Happiness is good for you, and happiness makes the world a better place.
This was a main point of Disney Parks, Experiences, and Products Chairman Josh D’Amaro‘s speech during his SXSW presentation. Here, he shared the ways in which the Walt Disney Company was built on storytelling, creativity, and innovation to create more happiness in the world. In that, he shared some really awesome things — lightsabers, the culinary team’s flavor lab, and the authenticity of immersive Disney experiences, like in Galaxy’s Edge. However, one thing he showed during his talk really caught us off guard…
He brought Tinker Bell on stage! Like, tiny, stuck-in-a-lantern, fairy Tinker Bell! D’Amaro invited a colleague to ask Tink any question he wanted.

Tinker Bell’s reactions and responses were authentic and not delayed at all. D’Amaro’s colleague marvels at this and says, “It looks so real!”
Tink responded, “Of course I am! I’m a fairy!” Ah… classic, sassy Tink! We also got to interview her ourselves — check it out!

We love that Tinker Bell was able to have her moment on stage, and something tells us that she loved it too. It’s always cool seeing the new, innovative entertainment that Disney comes up with! Could we see meet-and-greets like this in the parks soon?

This image technology is old stuff. I remember seeing Christopher Walken come from behind a bookshelf out on stage, life size, at the pre-show for the old Disaster Studio’s attraction 25 years ago. It was awesome. Could never understand why Disney did not take advantage of this technology. This tinker bell showing is old hat.
Unquestionably, I would love to meet real Tink!
