Believe it or not, it does occasionally get COLD in Disney World.
Now, we haven’t seen snow like what is occasionally seen in Disneyland Paris, but even when it gets down to the 50s (and sometimes even 30s and 40s), you’ll find yourself shivering. It’s a damp cold, too, which means you might find yourself at the parks wanting to buy a sweatshirt or jacket. But here’s the thing — almost every other guest has the exact same idea, and well, that causes a bit of a problem.
What’s the problem, you might ask? Well, today is a rather chilly day in Disney World, and when we walked into Emporium in Magic Kingdom looking for new merchandise, we saw a LOT of other people there shopping.
What were they buying? Well, they were buying sweatshirts and jackets because it’s cold!Â
We see this happen almost every time cold weather hits Disney World. Here’s the thing, though — if you do plan on visiting Disney World during the winter months, keep an eye on those forecasted temperatures, and be sure to pack plenty of layers with you so you’re NOT scrambling with other guests over the last Mickey sweatshirt.
Even better? You can grab a fun sweatshirt in our DFB store and bring it along.
However, if you DO find yourself in the parks and are STILL cold and want to use that as an excuse to do some shopping for sweatshirts and jackets, we’ve got a tip for you if you’re in Magic Kingdom. Go to Curtain Call instead. That shop is generally empty and is fully stocked with warm clothes for adults AND kids (Emporium didn’t have a lot for kids when we visited).
You’ll find Curtain Call near Town Square Theatre (where you meet Mickey).
So if you are headed to Disney World and the weather turns cold, be prepared by packing warm layers. If you need to do some shopping, stop by a store that isn’t as crowded as Emporium. Disney World has TONS of shops, including smaller ones that many guests just walk by.

Buying sweatshirts because of the cold was a fun read. I remember being at the Epcot Candlelight Ceremony in December in 1998 and and it was so cold that night that people were wearing socks on their hands, as mittens. They all had a good laugh about it, but they were prepared…somewhat.
I’ll have to remember the sock thing the next time I’m ill prepared! That’s so smart!
