Disney World is a BIG place, and that means that it takes a lot of work to keep it up and running in tip-top shape. While seeing construction on your trip can take you out of the magic a little bit, it ultimately leads to new improvements that enhance the overall vacation experience.

And, sure, construction can certainly complicate things, but that’s why we keep up with all of the projects so you can be prepared ahead of your next trip. Over at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort, there’s a new way to enter by car, and it can be a little confusing if you’re not prepared for it. Here’s everything we know!
The Grand Floridian hotel has a new entrance — sort of. The actual entrance gate is the same, but instead of using the southern roundabout on Floridan Way to get there, guests are rerouted to the northern roundabout. There is a “Grand Floridian Turn Right” sign before the roundabout, but it can be confusing if you don’t know what you’re looking for.

There is still quite a bit of construction, especially near the new roundabouts and the entrance gates themselves. While you can enter through the normal, main gate, the exit is blocked off, and guests are being rerouted to a different exit.
When we spoke to a Cast Member in the lobby of the Grand Floridian, they said that the northern roundabout will be the new entrance, and that they are hoping for the construction to be complete by mid-October. You can see on this view of Apple Maps of the area that it states construction will be complete by October 22nd. Of course, this could change, and we’ll keep you updated on any news we find out.

The new Floridian Way roundabouts were constructed in conjunction with updates to World Drive, designed to improve traffic control around Magic Kingdom and the Magic Kingdom resort area. As of now, the construction might be making things a bit more complicated, but hopefully when it’s all done, these traffic improvements will finally come to fruition.
There’s also some Monorail construction going on at the Grand Floridian, but luckily the Monorail is still running to this resort — if that changes, we’ll let you know!

While not a completely flat top, I could still see eating on them. Love the foot pedal. Kinda neat that they are theming them to their locations. In another article, you mentioned new picnic style tables attached to a fence or railing? I love that idea, too! This is one change I don’t hate in wdw!
Besides being very expensive, ruining the lobby to put in a bar, getting rid of the piano and band, forever ditching the gingerbread house, resort guests complaining about how non guests ruin their stay and now construction, I honestly can’t imagine one solid reason for ever staying at the Grand Floridian! Any magic or pixie dust it had is long gone. I wouldn’t stay there if it was free!
Have they straighten out the mess of parking at the Polly.? That was such a surprise when we went in the new entrance and had to find our way back to old entrance to get to the parking by the longhouse.
