Things are CHANGING in Magic Kingdom!
Splash Mountain has closed and a big part of the new ride — Tiana’s Bayou Adventure — is set to arrive this summer, there have been updates to Space Mountain, and 50th Anniversary decorations have been steadily removed from Cinderella Castle. But recently we spotted something else in the park that could mark the start of more changes!
As we walked past the front of the castle, we got to soak in all its majesty with some bright blue skies behind it. Lots of the 50th Anniversary decor has already been removed, while other pieces still remain in place (for now). But behind the castle was a SURPRISE…
…construction walls.
Behind the castle, you’ll find some construction walls up by Sir Mickey’s.
If you’re hoping to get some gorgeous behind-the-castle shots, know that they’ll be impacted by these walls, and you’ll want to follow the signage carefully to find the entrance to Sir Mickey’s.
Disney hasn’t explicitly stated what these walls are up for, but given the recent construction we’ve seen on and around the castle — from the draining of the castle moat to the removal of 50th Anniversary decor all around and on the Castle — we expect it could be related to that ongoing work.
Be mindful of these walls and how they might impact your pictures or otherwise interrupt the “flow” of your usual path through the parks. It’s not clear how long they’ll remain in place but we’ll certainly be on the lookout for details.
And remember that this isn’t the only construction going on in Disney World (not a chance!). Some big construction is taking place over at Splash Mountain as it becomes Tiana’s Bayou Adventure…
And that’s just a sampling of the construction going on. We’ll keep an eye out for more construction updates throughout Disney and let you know what we find. Be sure to check back with us for more news!

Has the room construction started in earnest at the Beach Club? We’ll be there in a few weeks and I was wondering what impact there might be.
