Make way, make way — a new attraction is opening soon in EPCOT and we’ve got all kinds of details to share with you!
Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana is an interactive, walk-through experience that will be opening this fall in EPCOT’s World Nature. The attraction allows you to interact with “living water,” learn about the natural water cycle (and how to protect and preserve water), and features all kinds of unique character details to hunt for. But what is it REALLY like to go through this attraction? Well, we grabbed tons of videos and photos during a special Cast Member preview and now we’re taking you along with us to experience it all.
Again, keep in mind that our experience is based on the Cast Member preview we attended. Things may be slightly different once the experience officially opens to the public, and if so, we’ll share some updates with you.

Entrance
As you enter the attraction, you’ll be met with the Journey of Water sign…
…as well as some important information about how you can get wet or you can opt to stay further away from the water. At certain parts of the walking path, things will split into a wet versus dry path. At those moments, you can opt for the dry path if you’d rather experience water from a safe distance.
This attraction is an experience for everyone! You can get wet if you choose, but you don’t have to! #JourneyOfWater pic.twitter.com/TLk3ujRrqc

Rain
The first section you enter is Rain. This is where the cycle begins with some “rain” (a.k.a. mist) descending from the rocks.
Also, be sure to heed Disney’s warnings — the water here is meant to be played with but NOT drank.

The water is inviting you to play! These streams are interactive and play music as you pass your hands through the water!

Stream
Next up is the stream section. You’ll get to learn about how rain runs over the ground and then makes a new stream.
In this section, look for some symbols on the floor. You’ll stand on those and “wave” to the stream in front of you to trigger some special effects — jumping water!
We’ve come across another interactive fountain! It’s like the water waves back at you! 🌺 pic.twitter.com/x3T1nAwk10

Wetland
Then you’ll hit the wetland area, where you learn about how streams spread out and soak the soil.
Again, be on the lookout for options to opt for the dry path so you can keep yourself from getting too wet (if that’s what you prefer).
There are portions where the water is on the floor itself (running across the path), so again, deciding whether to go for the wet or dry path can make a huge difference depending on your comfort level. There are plenty of water features here to admire and enjoy as you stroll along.
Spring
Then, you’ll hit the Spring space.
Land
Then, it’s time to learn about the land and how it is shaped by water.
In this section of the attraction, it’s highlighted how land also shapes water’s movement (and in turn, water shapes the land)!

The bathrooms are colorful and bright — plus, they make a great spot to change into dry clothing if needed!

Lake
Then, you’ll hit the Lake section, where you’ll find the giant Te Fiti figure overlooking a little lake.
Just when the attraction couldn’t get prettier, we have Te Fiti! 😍🌺💚 pic.twitter.com/KT4m46kJ4o

We could see this space being especially beautiful at night!
River
Then it’s off to the River!
Here, you’ll see some water next to the path (plus baby Moana)…
All throughout the area, look out for interactive water features and splash pads on the ground.
Ocean
Finally, it’s time to hit the BIG water effect in the ocean space.
You’ll walk underneath some jumping water to get to the main area.
This is the largest interactive water feature and does come with specific rules you need to follow, so please keep that in mind.
Here, you’ll jump on certain portions marked on the floor to send water back to the sky (a.k.a. have the water JUMP out!). And it’s a LOT of water, so be prepared!
Here’s another BIG opportunity to get wet! This part of the attraction is great when you work as a group! pic.twitter.com/IMB1ZVcsvY

Hidden Characters
Again, as we mentioned above, there are lots of hidden characters in the rockwork throughout the attraction, including Moana herself (in the Ocean area)…

WOW, I see long paths of lines trying to get through especially the ocean area with a 150 person limit, cast member at each end with a counter and radio letting a few in as a few leave.
