Disney World is home to more than just its four prominent theme parks.
Sure, meeting Mickey in Magic Kingdom is an iconic part of a trip to Disney World, but did you know you could also meet Santa in a ski resort in the middle of Florida? Disney World has two water parks, Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon. Currently, you can visit the latter — where you can lounge in a lazy river, Castaway Creek, or catch some serious waves in the Typhoon Lagoon Surf Pool. However, Blizzard Beach has been closed for a seasonal refurbishment since March 19th, 2023. Disney hasn’t shared an opening timeline for the park yet, but they may have just dropped a clue about when it might be returning.
The Disney World website lists holiday offerings for various locations around the parks — including Blizzard Beach!
Currently, Disney notes that visitors will be able to “Splash into a watery winter wonderland brimming with cheer,” with holiday highlights that may include daily “snowfall” and Santa Claus, vacationing in his “holiday-finest beachwear.”
While there still is no official date for reopening, these details could indicate that the park will be opening soon — in time for the holiday season in Disney World. The last time it reopened following a seasonal refurbishment, a new Frozen-themed area was added, so we’ll be on the lookout for any potential new additions that might pop up.
Since the closures of 2020, we haven’t seen both water parks open at the same time, so when Blizzard Beach reopens, that could mean that Typhoon Lagoon will close for its seasonal refurbishment. Currently, there are no hours listed for Typhoon Lagoon starting on November 5th! That could be the date that it closes for refurbishment and Blizzard Beach opens.
We’ll keep an eye out for any more updates, so stay tuned to DFB for more!
