Disney World is no stranger to projects, and always thinking of ways to reimagine. Now it seems like a water park may be down to guests for a while.
We thought we had seen the last of the closures for this park when it last reopened in 2022 with some brand new themed elements, but Disney just announced that it will be going back under refurb very soon.
There are two water parks at Disney World — Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon. But we have not seen both of the parks open at the same time since before the closures in 2020. Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon water park closed in November 2022 just as Blizzard Beach re-opened, and now, that’s happening in reverse.
It’s just been announced that Blizzard Beach will be closing for refurbishment again on March 19th, 2023. There was no timeline mentioned for how long the water park could stay closed.
And guess what is re-opening on March 19th?
You guessed it — Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon will be welcoming guests back once again. As always, stay with us for the latest in Disney park news here at DFB!

Travis says
My guess is that Disney is not real aggressive in hiring new life guards for the water parks or resort pools. The life guards are likely switching from one water park to another when the the water parks alternate closure for refurbishment.

Is their not enough guests and are they balancing manpower against guest attendance…
Chris says
That’s a little ridiculous seeing as it just re-opened.
