You may have heard about the shoe battle goin’ on in Disney World.
Disney’s collaboration with Native shoes might be trying to give Crocs a run for their money! Not only are the Ked-like sneakers a HUGE hit with parents, but they come in Mickey and Minnie-inspired designs. But…what about the OG Disney shoes? Have we forgotten about Crocs?
After witnessing an epic showdown between these two shoes, we decided to give both a spin to see which we preferred! We tested out the Native shoes earlier this week, so now it’s time to wear the Crocs ALL day in Disney and see what we think.
There are TONS of Disney Crocs available. We’ve seen Haunted Mansion Crocs, glittery Crocs, Christmas Crocs, and more. But for this experiment, we decided to buy the Retro Yellow Crocs. Sadly, these aren’t on shopDisney anymore, but you can find a different retro pair of Crocs online now!

Our pair of Retro Yellow Crocs features the Walt Disney World logo on the platform and side of the soles.
We’ve had LOTS of questions on how these Crocs compare to the new Natives. Are they equally comfortable? Do your feet sweat? What’s the sizing like? So it’s time to take these trusty Crocs out for a day in the park to answer all YOUR questions! We headed over to EPCOT to kick off the day.
We instantly realized just how comfortable these shoes were. They were also super wide, unlike the Natives, which are pretty narrow. After walking around for a bit, we still didn’t have any signs of blisters!
About 3 hours later, we DID actually need a bandage. But we’re gonna be honest — it wasn’t entirely these snazzy Crocs’ fault. The blister popped up right where our Natives had irritated our foot. We patched it up and kept moving!
About 4.5 hours after we got to EPCOT, we surrendered to the blister and changed back into our flip flops (again, not totally the Crocs’ fault). Overall, these shoes were much comfier than the Natives! Their roominess makes them easier on people with wider feet. We also noticed that they didn’t get at all sweaty, unlike the Natives, where there was a little sweat.
Even though these shoes FELT really loose — sometimes we even thought we’d walk right out of our shoes — they weren’t slippery at all. That’s another thing the Crocs have over the Natives. And the comfort element is HUGE. We lasted twice as long in the Crocs as we did the Natives. Of course, that may just be because those Natives take a little more time to break in.
So…who won this ultimate showdown? Well, it depends! If you’re going for comfort, we’d pick the Crocs. Your comfort level will probably be way higher. But if you’re going for style, the Natives may be more up your alley. The Mouse-inspired designs are perfect for a day in the parks.
Price-wise, these two shoes are pretty similar. The Retro Yellow Crocs we wore cost $49.99 when we first tested them, though the newer Crocs are typically around $59.99 these days. On the other hand, a pair of adult Natives is $54.99. What you choose really depends on what you want out of these kicks! If your shoes fit right and you’re walking short distances, the Natives could be a great option. But we walk a LOT. As in, over 64,000 steps over the course of a day or two.
The value of the Crocs may be better for long distances.

I’m wondering for those of us who have issues with our feet, would the Crocs still be a good shoe? I’ve had them in the past and loved them but haven’t in a while and now am rocking a bone spur….🤷🏼♀️

I thought crocs were not allowed.

Why would Crocs not be allowed?

I always wear cross to the park, but the kadee (Mary jane) style. They’re cuter and less lose but great for support, not too hot and look good with shorts, pants or dresses.

I wear crocs all day, every day when at Disney. I have the regular crocs plus the swift waters. I alway wear socks with my crocs… I’m 60-ish and don’t care about style… but RARELY get blisters. If you are prone to blisters, use corn starch or Gold Bond on the feet. We go 3 times a year for about 6 days, at the park every day and only a rare blister.

I wore my crocs the whole trip when we were at Disney in April 2021. They were very comfortable no problem at all one day I did where my adidas slides but found my crocs were more comfortable. Iam 66 and all I wear are crocs I have very small feet so I have to get kids crocs.

I have seen the Natives brand at World of Disney, Disneyland but the seems like it would be a blister waiting to happen at the back of your ankle! Too bad because they look good!

If you want to try the flip flop challenge. Get a pair of Sanuk. (Yoga mat ones)Thats all I ever wear when I go to the parks unless it’s cold.
Shelly says
I always where athletic shoes to the park with great arch support and cushioned bed. I never get blisters .
The shoes are well tested since I walk miles at home as part of my regular exercise routine. No, they don’t have Disney characters on them. I wouldn’t trade them for any of the aforementioned shoes this post is evaluating. I have happy feet all day and all night.
Rockster says
The BEST walking shoes are from Mephisto. Expensive, yes, but last for years and can be resoled, so you aren’t throwing some Croc rubber into the landfills to last there for generations to come. Still wearing a pair of Mephistos I bought in 2001. Only one in my group that never has leg, back for foot problems at Disney

Thanks for your feedback, Rockster! The Mephisto shoes sound like a great investment! We love a good walking shoe around here!

Thanks for your feedback, Shelly. We’re so happy to hear you’ve found the right shoes for the parks! It’s never fun to walk around with blisters and sore feet.

Fashion icon that I am, I rarely wear crocs anymore, but did wear them one time to the Magic Kingdom. I found them very comfortable, but also discovered that on the wet bridges they can be very slippery. Hopefully newer models have corrected that flaw. Otherwise, style be damned, they were great for my wide hobbit feet. Happy new year, everyone!

I wear crocs every time I go the parks. I find the classic or baya crocs more comfortable than bayaband. The ones in the article appear to be bayabands and they run more on the top of foot. I have about 20 pairs of crocs and also wear at work all day as a nurse.

I can’t wear crocs. Peripheral neuropathy makes those interior bumps hurt. My children when they were little (7 and 10) wore Crocs throughout a trip to Disneyland and California Adventure. Additionally, we went to Sea World and the San Diego Zoo. No complaints. No blisters.
