So you want to drink around the World Showcase in EPCOT, do ya? It’s not always for the faint of heart.
Sure, grabbing a drink here and there is one thing — but if you’re looking to have the full Drinking Around the World Showcase experience, you need to be prepared. There are plenty of things to keep in mind if you’re attempting this challenge, like staying hydrated, drinking responsibly, and generally not being bothersome and obnoxious to other people. But, there are some tools you can keep in your park bag that might help you along the way!
When it comes to drinking around the World Showcase in EPCOT, I consider myself to be somewhat of an expert. So, when I’m preparing for a day of responsible imbibing, these are the essentials I make sure to pack in my park bag.
Get this set of reusable straws to avoid the dreaded soggy paper!
Disney World ditched plastic straws in the name of sustainability a while back, and instead, you’ll find paper straws throughout the parks and hotels. While I love the eco-friendly efforts, I do not love drinking my libations through a soggy paper straw. Instead, I keep some reusable straws like these in my park bag!
A drink sock like this one can keep your hands dry from condensation or warm from an icy bev.
If you also hate the dreaded wet cup or can due to condensation from an icy drink, I’m right there with ya. Tossing a koozie or drink sock into my bag can help prevent dripping all over the place, and it can also help keep your hands from freezing if it’s cold outside.
My general rule of thumb is a glass of water for every drink, so I always keep a water bottle like this on me.
My number one rule when drinking around the world is staying hydrated! Trust me, you don’t want to get lost in the sauce when you’re at Disney World. Not only does it sometimes lead to a bad time, it can also leave you feeling… not great. Bringing a water bottle like this Owala one with me is a must.
For extra hydration, I toss some Liquid I.V. packets in my bag!
For a bit of extra hydration — or if those drinks start catching up to me because I’ve ignored my own number one rule — having a few hydration multipliers like these Liquid IV packets can come in handy. They’re essentially electrolyte packets that can help give you a boost if you’re looking
Sunscreen is a must for any trip around the World Showcase if you ask me.
Studies have shown that drinking alcohol can decrease the efficacy of sunscreen (I’m not a scientist though, I write about Disney food for a living so take that with a grain of salt), so even if I’ve put some on before heading to EPCOT I’ll make sure to bring more in my bag. This Supergoop! sunscreen is lightweight and one of my go-to’s.
We’ve got plenty more recommendations for what essentials you need on your next Disney World trip where these came from, so be sure to stay tuned to DFB for the latest!
