Planning a Disney World trip can be hard enough without having to expect the unexpected.
That’s why we always do our best to make sure you’re prepared. You’ve probably already secured your park tickets and dining reservations, and maybe you’ve even decided which special extras you’re going to experience while you’re on your trip. But, if you’re planning on rope-dropping Disney World this weekend, it’s going to be DIFFERENT — here’s why.
If you’re planning on rope-dropping (getting to the gate at or before park opening) the Disney World parks on Sunday, March 10th, you might want to be prepared for it to be different! No, Disney hasn’t changed any rules or made any updates for how rope drop works, but this weekend will bring Daylight Saving Time to Florida!
That’s right — as Spring comes around and brings warmer temperatures and sunny days, so does the time of year when certain states have to “spring forward,” setting our clocks (let’s be real, most of our devices now do it automatically) ahead and losing an hour of sleep. For folks planning on rope-dropping at Disney World this Sunday, that means one less hour of sleep before the parks open.
Ultimately, this won’t really have any impact on the Disney World parks as a whole — the calendar shows the operating hours for each park staying the same after the change, but it will mean you might want to try and get to bed a little earlier if that extra hour of sleep will have a big impact on your day.
Where you will notice a change, though, is over at Kilimanjaro Safaris in Animal Kingdom. The hours for this ride will change on March 10th with the time. We checked on the Disney World website and saw that the ride closes at 5:45PM on March 9th and then closes later, at 6:45PM on March 10th.
We’ll be on the lookout for more changes that could be impacted by Daylight Saving Time, so stay tuned to DFB for the latest news and updates from Disney World and more!
