We are less than a month away from the grand opening of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure in Magic Kingdom!
We have been keeping a close eye on the construction since it started, and recently got a first look at all the merchandise coming! We have also been watching as Cast Member previews began off earlier this week. While we have seen the ride have its fair share of downtimes, we know they are still working out the kinks and we are looking forward to experiencing this attraction for the first time.
The opening of a new attraction is always filled with excitement. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure has been over a year in the making, and we know there are lots of people who can’t wait to experience it. While we can’t wait for you to experience it too, there are a few unwritten rules about experiencing a new attraction.
Be Kind to Cast Members
This should really go without saying, and you should ALWAYS be kind to Cast Members. But we want to start off with this unwritten rule as it is one of the most important rules. They are likely stressed and overwhelmed too, so extend some kindness to them and be sure to listen carefully to any instructions they give you. The Cast Members want you to have an amazing experience, so help them do that by being patient and kind with them. While Cast Members do get a lot of training before opening day, be mindful that there is still a lot of new things happening. The Cast Members could have transferred from a different area and are still getting used to the ins and outs of operating a new attraction. Even if they have been around the attraction for a while, they are still getting used to a large influx of people and the difficulties that come with operating a popular ride. And while we are on the topic, please be kind to everyone!
Be Prepared for Technical Difficulties
Rides have technical difficulties. Even rides that generally operate smoothly still have technical difficulties. However, this is especially the case with a newly opened attraction. While we know that Tiana’s Bayou Adventure still has the track of Splash Mountain, they may have updated parts of the ride system or changed aspects. As well, it has been over a year since the ride system has operated continuously while carrying people so that alone can cause some strain. While unfortunate, you can expect the ride to go down a fair amount even after the official opening day. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure has been hosting previews recently to help work out some of these kinks, but it still won’t magically work 100% of the time when the ride officially opens. Just come with the understanding that the ride could be delayed or be down for technical difficulties. Be patient and understanding and take the time to enjoy everything else that Disney World has to offer!
Come With an Open Mind
By the time you make it to ride, you may have seen multiple ride-through videos and a host of people talking about their opinion of the ride. We aren’t saying that you can’t watch or listen, but also take the opinions and videos with a grain of salt. Come with an open mind and allow yourself to experience the attraction for yourself. Some people are going to hate it, some people are going to love it. Let yourself form your own opinion and really allow yourself to simply experience the ride instead of worrying about everything you have seen and heard about the ride. We love watching ride-throughs as much as the next person, but there is something special and different about experiencing a ride in person for the first time. Don’t let other people influence your own experience!
Enjoy the Queue, But Be Mindful
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is debuting a beautifully redesigned queue, and you already know we will be spending plenty of time exploring all the hidden details. So much work went into the design of the queue, and we highly encourage you to enjoy it, but at the same time be mindful of others. If you are stopping to look at a detail in the queue and the line continues to move, you can always let others pass you. Just try not to hold up the entire queue while you are looking at a specific part. Brief stops are fine, but feel free to move out of the way if you are hoping to really admire a certain section.
Don’t Spoil It for Others
There is a lot of information and previews out there for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure and we know lots of people are digesting as much as they can. We can’t help but get excited about a ride-through video or getting to experience the ride for the first time. However, not everyone wants to know what to expect in a new ride. Some people are carefully avoiding videos and comments about the ride, so just be mindful of that. Don’t force your experience on someone who may not want to hear it, but we highly encourage sharing your experience with those who are interested, like us!
Be Prepared for Crowds
You would probably expect this, but there will likely be some pretty big crowds. The virtual queue is an attempt to help with the large influx of people, but there will still be lots of people checking out the area, shopping merchandise, and enjoying the special food offerings. As well, if the ride does experience technical difficulties, you may see large crowds forming or a back-up of the queue. Bring some extra patience as you experience Tiana’s Bayou Adventure and prepare others in your party for potentially busy areas.
The grand opening of an attraction is always an exciting time, but we also want you to be aware of some unspoken rules when it comes to experiencing that attraction. Overall, bring patience, kindness, understanding, and excitement with you, and we think you will have an amazing time at Tiana’s Bayou Adventure! While I understand why you wrote this it feels like a lecture. I am offended that you felt the need to lecture about something that in the past good manners would prevail. Sadly, good manners have “gone with the wind”. I wonder how many people feel this was an unnecessary post or a necessary post?
Lucretia Kleinman says
I’ve noticed that they didn’t do anything new or special with the actual log vehicle. That’s cheap. I thought they might put a brass frog on the front.

From some of the comments I’ve read about this new ride, this appears to be written to head off any bad reviews. Many are saying that this ride is not exciting and is inferior to Splash Mountain that it replaced and which everyone loved. Another Disney mistake?
John O says
Really Greta, you’re offended by this?
Greta Orth says
Gee John, as I said I am offended and everyone else has the right to say when something offends them why can’t I. Additionally it also shows you that I’m offended because manners are no longer part of the experience. So yes, I’m offended, don’t like what I said, don’t read it.
