FINALLY! A Popular 2006 Movie Could Be Getting a SEQUEL!

A sequel to a hit movie is reportedly in the works at Disney, and trust us, this news is much more thrilling than florals for spring.

If you caught that quote, then you know exactly which movie I’m referring to (and that’s awesome, you deserve a gold star for that one!).

The Devil Wears Prada was released in 2006 and was inspired by the novel of the same name. It finished its run in theatres with a whopping $326 million at the box office (the Devil can wear ALL the Prada it wants with that cha-ching), making it a certified hit. Now, Deadline has reported that this movie is finally getting a SEQUEL!

Fans are buzzing with excitement at the possibilities for this sequel!

The film’s original plot revolves around Andrea ‘Andy’ Sachs (played by Anne Hathaway) who winds up interning for Miranda Priestly (played by Meryl Streep), a ruthless editor-in-chief of a powerful high-couture fashion magazine. Andy ends up realizing how cutthroat the fashion industry can really be. Also starring Emily Blunt, Stanley Tucci, and Adrian Grenier, this star-studded film brought to life the iconic story that has become a classic, even earning two Oscar nominations, including Best Costume Design and Best Actress for Mery Streep.

For those who loved the first film, the original screenwriters are expected to return for the sequel’s script as the film is currently in the early development stage at Disney. Although the studio has not confirmed whether any stars of the original cast will be returning, sources reported that the story will focus on Miranda Priestly facing the challenges brought by the decline of the traditional magazine industry. At the same time, Emily Blunt’s character has successfully become an executive at a luxury group, holding the advertising funds that Priestly now requires.

No word on filming or production dates has been announced, so for now we’ll tap our (imaginary) stiletto heels as we await more updates. This would honestly be a great place to add that iconic Miranda Priestly quote, “By all means, move at a glacial pace. You know how that thrills me.” There’s honestly a Devil Wears Prada quote for any situation.
