There are literally HUNDREDS of things to do in just Magic Kingdom alone…But what do YOU need to prioritize at this popular Disney World park during your next trip?
Ah, Magic Kingdom — a place where there are no ugly pictures of Cinderella Castle, where the amount of rides for all ages is good ‘n’ plentiful, and where you can eat your weight in Mickey premium bars while lying on the hub grass and no one’s gonna think less of you. It’s also home to magnificent fireworks shows, and we’re bringing you the skinny on some of the BEST viewing spots!
If you’ve never watched Magic Kingdom’s nighttime spectacular — Happily Ever After — from the middle of Main Street, U.S.A. before, we still recommend watching the fireworks from there for your first-ever experience of them. That way, you get the WHOLE projection show along with all the high-in-the-sky razzamatazz.
However, if this is your second, third, or umpteenth time watching the show — or you simply CAN’T STAND the thought of being in such a tightly-packed crowd for 30-60 minutes at a time — then you might want to try watching the fireworks from somewhere COMPLETELY new instead for a unique Happily Ever experience (with WAY fewer people).
In front of Cinderella Castle, the crowds can get really intense and keep you gridlocked. But behind Cinderella Castle? You might not only have fewer people to worry about, but you could also stumble upon the most MAGICAL experience of the day.
Every now and then, Disney princesses — like Belle, or Rapunzel, or even Cinderella herself — will come out and watch the fireworks with kiddos. This isn’t a guaranteed happenstance, but — if it does happen — you’ll usually find these princesses hanging out around Prince Charming Regal Carrousel, close to the entrance of the New Fantasyland area.
Magic Kingdom’s Swiss Family Treehouse over in Adventureland isn’t an attraction you hear much about, but if you’re willing to log in the extra steps (on top of the tens of thousands of steps you’re already taking during the day), you’ll be able to scale a rather grandiose tree while also viewing the Magic Kingdom park from a whole new perspective. And that perspective will ALSO give you a unique perspective of the fireworks above (and around) the treetops.
Welcome back to the unofficial Peoplemover fan club. Today’s order of business: riding Peoplemover AND watching Happily Ever After at the same time. While some rides like Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, and TRON: Lightycycle/Run have some super sweet views of the fireworks that you can make into a core memory for your whole family, it’s a lot more difficult to time your visit and align your ridethrough on these attractions right when the middle of the show is taking place.
However — thanks to Peoplemover’s lower wait times and high capacity — it’s a lot EASIER to align your Peoplemover ridethrough with the Happily Ever After fireworks. Not to mention, since the PeopleMover passes right by the castle, you can get an up-close view of the fireworks, as well as some of the projections, too!
PLUS, if you’re passing the castle toward the end of the show and you hear those ever-so-melodious words, “You can fly!”, you just might get an AWESOME POV of Tinker Bell as she soars over Tomorrowland!
If you’re looking for a stationary fireworks spot that’s less unpredictable than a ride, just head on over to Frontierland and aim for the bridge by Tiana’s Bayou Adventure!
This bridge goes over part of the water for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure and is located near the Frontierland popcorn cart. Sure, you may not be able to see the castle projections from this far back, but this is DEFINITELY a calmer and less crowded place to enjoy the colorful “crash boom BANG” happening up in the sky.
