We have a feeling that major LEGO fans will be buying tickets to fly to Shanghai soon. You might be thinking, “Shanghai? LEGO? What?“, but let us explain.

Here in America, we’re very familiar with LEGOLAND. There’s a LEGOLAND in Florida, and a LEGOLAND in California. However, did you know that the largest LEGOLAND won’t be in the US? Shanghai is getting the world’s largest LEGOLAND, and it’s opening VERY soon!
Shanghai is so close to introducing the world’s largest version of LEGOLAND. It’s time for us to start saving up, because we have a trip we need to book. LEGOLAND Shanghai is operated by Merlin Entertainments, which runs LEGOLAND parks worldwide, per The Independent.

LEGOLAND Shanghai is set to open up to Lego fans around the world on July 5th. That means we’re a week away from the opening date. This resort sounds AMAZING, as it will feature a ton of our favorite LEGO properties — eight to be exact! Those eight LEGO properties will be turned into themed immersive areas — including Ninjago, LEGO Friends, and Monkie Kid lands, just to name a few.

The themed areas will bring your favorite LEGO stories to life at a MASSIVE scale. You’ll be fully immersed in the wonderful world of LEGO! The park will also feature many LEGO-themed rides and attractions. One of which is a very well-crafted mini replica of the Shanghai waterfront and the tall skyscrapers of the Lujiazui financial district. The replicas are impressively built out of LEGO, and LEGO alone. Check it out below!

When you’re there, a must-visit spot will be “Miniland”. It will have many wild and cool creations for guests to look at. Miniland will be where the LEGO replica of downtown Shanghai and the city’s waterfront is located. Miniland will 100% have guests in awe, as the creations took 168,000 hours to complete, using more than 20 million bricks.

Fun fact! LEGO has been a staple toy in Shanghai for a long time, as there are over 400 stores located there. Legoland will find a nice home there, and now we have more reason to go visit. If you’re planning on checking out the brand-new resort, tickets will begin at 319 yuan ($44.46) during the low season. On peak days, the ticket price will increase to 599 yuan ($83.57).

We’re really excited for the opening of the biggest Legoland in the world, and can’t wait to check it out one day! We’re sure LEGO fans are already planning a trip. For more theme park news and updates, be sure to stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog!
