If you can count on anything in Disney World, it’s that the weather is going to be unpredictable.
Now, we don’t expect a snowstorm to pop up in the middle of July. However, you can expect super hot and humid days that will make you pray for rain…which will show up in the form of random storms pretty much any time of the day. It’s also hurricane season, though, and that means that tropical systems that form in the Atlantic often have the chance to impact Florida. Well, buckle up, because the holiday weekend could be seeing something just like that.
According to WESH, a tropical system could form over Florida to rain out the 4th of July holiday weekend. An area of low pressure might develop near or along the southeastern U.S. Atlantic and/or Gulf Coasts. This storm could bring tropical or subtropical characteristics as it drifts just off the coastline, meaning it could affect the entire state of Florida.
The chance of this storm development over the next seven days has increased to 40%, although this storm is not expected to become a hurricane or tropical storm. It is, though, expected to bring rain to Central Florida, so Disney World could be wet this weekend. The chance for rain between Friday and Sunday is 60 to 80%. So if you’re heading to Disney World or Orlando for the weekend, pack for rain.
The Atlantic Hurricane Season runs through November 30th, so this is probably the first of many storms that could impact Disney World during that time. If you’re traveling, be sure to plan for things like delays, as well as heavy rainfall in the parks (pack those ponchos and raincoats, folks).
We’ll keep an eye on the weather and everything else in Disney World, so stay tuned to DFB for more.
