All aboard! Now that Tom Sawyer Island, the Rivers of America, and the Liberty Square Riverboat are closed, the Walt Disney World Railroad is undergoing some changes.
Before you hop on the train, be warned that your route might be a little different than you’re used to.
The railroad now only has two stops, Fantasyland and Main Street, skipping over Frontierland. Instead of going through a full loop around Magic Kingdom, it will go forward and backward!
For the different routes, there’s a new train conductor spiel. The conductor discusses a new experiment and references the original Experiment 626, also known as Stitch.
Because you’re going forward and backward, half of the seats are turned to face the opposite direction.
Why are all of these changes coming to the railroad? Well, lots of changes are coming to Magic Kingdom!
Villains Land is coming, and it will be the biggest expansion to ever hit the Magic Kingdom. This project is going to be behind Big Thunder Mountain, so they’re pausing the railroad that goes through the area.
Piston Peak is also being welcomed to Frontierland! This Cars-themed land will feature new rides and will replace the old Tom Sawyer Island and Rivers of America.
We’re excited about these new projects, and if you haven’t been on the train in a while, you should add it back to your list to try out the new version they’re calling “Shuttle Mode.” We’re bringing you all the Disney updates you need right here at Disney Food Blog.
