Universal has been doing a lot of expanding beyond its Orlando and Hollywood theme park locations. For example, Universal Horror Unleashed just opened (with terrifying results) in Las Vegas. Universal is also building a theme park in the U.K.
However, we’ve been keeping an eye on a NEW Universal theme park in the U.S., Universal Kids Resort, located in Frisco, Texas. Well, Universal just dropped some new details about that park, and y’all…we are EXCITED.
Universal Kids Resort is a new theme park aimed at entertaining kids and families. The park is set to open in 2026 and will feature seven new lands. Universal just revealed new details about those lands. When you enter the park, you’ll find yourself in Isle of Curiosity, a “whimsical gateway” that will feature spaces for kids to explore. Kids will also be able to meet Gabby from Gabby’s Dollhouse here as well as attend a “pawsome” dance party.
In Shrek’s Swamp, kids will get to engage in some “ogre-sized fun” because it’s been transformed for Shrek’s triplets. Here, kids can meet Shrek and Fiona, as well as take photos in the onion carriage. This land will have two interactive play areas, Shrek’s Swamp Rompin’ Stomp and Shrek’s Swamp Splash & Smash.
Puss in Boots Del Mar will give kids a chance to meet Puss in Boots, as well as Mama Luna, Perrito, and more. There will also be carnival games like Barriles de Leche and El Gato’s Meow. The land will also feature a swings ride.
In Illumination’s Minions vs. Minions: Bello Bay Club, the game is on. The Yellow Minions are trying to “rein in their Purple counterparts, leading to water-soaked fun that involves a river rapids-style ride.” Of course, families are encouraged to take part, although they can just relax and watch. There will also be a special Minions meet and greet, as well as interactive play areas with lots of surprises.
In Jurassic World Adventure Camp, kids can meet a newly hatched baby dinosaur and climb up the Lookout Towers play area. According to the concept art, it looks like there will be a family-friendly roller coaster in this land, too!
Party with the Trolls in TrollsFest “where the music will be bumping and the energy will be pumping.” Here, kiddos and their families can meet Poppy, Branch, and more. The land will also have two interactive play areas, including Poppy’s Playland and Trolls Critter Crawl. Plus, the concept art shows off a balloon kind of ride and a roller coaster.
Finally, you can visit Bikini Bottom at SpongeBob SquarePants Bikini Bottom, where you can meet SpongeBob, Patrick, and Sandy. Explore Mussel Beach and have some fun splash time in Pineapple Paradise.
Universal Kids Resort will also have multiple sensory gardens designed to give kids and their families a chance to rest. These “carefully crafted spaces invite guests to explore through touch, sound, and color in calming, nature-inspired settings — creating moments of balance within a day full of play.”
As previously mentioned, the new resort also has its own hotel with 300 rooms — this hotel will also serve as the entrance to Universal Kids Resort.
We’ll be keeping an eye out for more announcements regarding Universal Kids Resort, so stay tuned to DFB for more.
