Traveling during Thanksgiving is about to be CRAZY this year!

Frontier Airlines
It’s that time of year when holiday travel really starts to pick up. Whether you’re doing a road trip or flying through the air, it’s been said that this holiday season is expected to be the busiest travel season in 15 years!
This Thanksgiving, travel is expected to be crazier than it’s been for a LONG time. It’s expected that this will be the busiest we’ve seen in 15 years, with anticipation that November 25th will see more than 52,000 flights across the country, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.

Flying with Southwest
It may be crazy, but the FAA is ready for the rush. FAA Administrator Bryan Bedford stated, “Thanks to the dedication of our air traffic controllers and every FAA employee, we are ready for the holiday rush and take pride in helping travelers reach their friends and families during this important time of year.”

Orlando International Airport
On November 26th, there will be roughly 50,130 flights, and on Thanksgiving Day, that number drops to 25,611. Flights will then peak again as everyone is traveling back from their Thanksgiving plans, on November 30th, with 51,268 flights.

During a busy holiday season, when traveling, we like to make sure we’re booked in advance, and have a day between the day we need to be at our destination room during the trip. That way, if there are any delays or cancellations, you don’t need to worry about missing Thanksgiving Day. The same can be said about having extra time if you have a connection during your travel.

Ready to fly?
We’re excited to celebrate Thanksgiving this week, and now we should be as prepared as we can be for the busy travel season. Make sure to stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog to stay up to date on all the latest travel news and updates.
