Here at Disney Food Blog, we’re always sleuthing for new Disney details, and one way we do that is by checking permits filed by Walt Disney Imagineering!
This new permit could indicate that projects at Magic Kingdom may be coming sooner than we thought.
One permit is filed under Project K and consists of “construction of two buildings and associated parking, sidewalks, utilities, and stormwater conveyance,” and “the two existing dry retention ponds onsite will be modified, one to be a dry detention pond and the other to a wet detention pond.”
While nothing is officially confirmed, it’s likely these are offices for construction and Imagineering teams, based on the locations shown on the map. It’s close to Magic Kingdom parking, so it’s possible the offices are for the two new lands coming to the park.
One of the two lands coming is Piston Peak, the Cars-themed land. This area is coming to the permanently closed Tom Sawyer Island and Rivers of America. The river has been drained, and with some overhead shots, we can see that Disney is working on clearing the land. Clearing the area is usually the first thing we see when new projects are being built.
Villains Land is going behind Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, close to the new Piston Peak, and while we don’t have opening timelines for either, building an office encourages the idea that Disney wants to start working on the site more actively. The offices are usually only built when Disney is ready for a team to be close to the land every day.
We’ll be keeping an eye on this project to see what happens, but in the meantime, make sure you keep following Disney Food Blog for more.
