If you can imagine this, here at Disney Food Blog, we’re pretty obsessed with Disney dining. We love our snacks and quick service meals, but sometimes the best magic comes up at a table service restaurant. For most table service restaurants, you’ll want to book an Advanced Dining Reservation (or ADR).
One of our incredible readers, The Park Hopper Society, noticed that there were changes to the allergy section when they were booking a dining reservation, and sure enough, it looks like the Disney World app and website made some changes!
Typically, when you book dining, you’ll be able to put in dietary and accessibility requests. This gives the restaurant a heads up if you’re coming in with any allergies that they need to be aware of, and the accessibility portion allows hosts to book you a table that can meet your needs. While the accessibility request is still on the app, you’re no longer able to select dietary requests before you book, and instead, this message comes up:
“Guests must notify their server about any allergen-friendly requests. While we take steps to help mitigate cross-contact, we cannot guarantee that any item is completely free of allergens. Our allergy-friendly recipes may use refined oils, such as soybean oil, and/or ingredients that are processed in facilities that also process allergens. It is ultimately our Guests’ discretion to make an informed choice based upon their individual dietary needs. For more information about allergy-friendly requests at Disney-owned and operated locations, please ask to speak with our special diets-trained personnel upon arrival at the location.”
Even when you selected allergies on the app, most servers would still ask and clarify any information needed for your meal. With this change, it’s even more important to speak with your server about your dietary needs.
On most Disney World menus, which you can typically find online or in the app, there is a section dedicated to allergy-free options towards the bottom of the page. Those are meals they already have in place and the chefs are familiar with, and while you should clarify with your server as well, these dishes can give you an idea of where to start when booking your meal to make sure there are options available.
Thank you to The Park Hopper Society for bringing this to our attention, and make sure you keep following Disney Food Blog for all the latest information you ned when planning your Disney World vacation.
