Y’all…it’s been COLD in Disney World, way more than what we’re generally used to. We know we’re always warning you about how to handle the heat and humidity in Florida, but this year, it seems like we need to warn you more about the cold.
Well, the cold doesn’t look like it’s letting up anytime soon. The National Weather Service has just issued a Cold Weather Advisory for the Orlando area for tomorrow, February 6th.
So what exactly is a cold weather advisory? It means that it’s going to be COLD. The advisory states that it will be in effect from 1 AM to 9 AM tomorrow. You can expect wind chills as low as 26 degrees. Brrr! That’s cold enough to lead to hypothermia if you’re out in it for a long time. It also means that you may very well see some of the characters who visit with you outside in their cold-weather gear.
So what should you do? First, you’ll need to leave the shorts and skirts at home. You’ll want to bundle up, preferably in layers that are easy to take off and put back on. You’ll want a warm coat and probably a good scarf, gloves, and a hat to protect your head and ears from the cold.
Don’t underestimate the Florida cold either. In my experience, it feels much colder because you still have humidity to deal with, so it’s a damp cold that gets into your bones. So be sure to bundle up and keep your kids bundled up, too. As this IS Florida, it will go away eventually, and soon, we’ll all be complaining about the heat again.
We’ll continue to keep an eye on the weather in Disney World, so stay tuned to DFB for more updates.
