Packing for your vacation can be stressful, especially when you’re traveling with medication.

What are you packing?
Traveling is exciting, but if you rely on temperature-sensitive medication, keeping it cold and safe should be part of your trip planning. From flights to hotel check-ins, there are a few easy ways to protect your medication and avoid unnecessary stress on vacation. While we’re not medical professionals, these tips are based on our team’s travel experience to help you feel prepared and confident during your Disney trip.
We are not medical professionals, and this article should not be considered medical advice. Always consult your healthcare provider or pharmacist for guidance specific to your medication. The tips below are shared based on research and personal travel experience.
Request a Real Refrigerator at Your Disney Hotel
Many Disney World hotel rooms include what look like mini fridges, but some are closer to beverage coolers and may not stay cold enough for medication. If your medication requires consistent refrigeration, you can request a refrigerator or ask about proper storage options when booking or checking in. Disney Cast Members are often very accommodating when it comes to medical needs, but it’s best to ask in advance to avoid surprises.

Keep Medication With You
One of our team members says that one of her most important rules is to keep it with them at all times. If you feel better about keeping your medication with you as well, be sure to never pack medication in a checked bag or in any luggage that will leave your possession before you reach your hotel room. Delays, lost bags, and extreme temperatures can all put your medication at risk, so carrying it in a personal bag or medical cooler gives you full control and peace of mind.

Let’s get packing!
Use a Frozen Water Bottle for Cooling
A frozen water bottle is a simple but effective travel hack. Placing one in your medication cooler helps maintain a safe temperature for hours, especially during flights or long travel days. As a bonus, once it melts, you’ll have cold drinking water ready to go, so it’s perfect for staying hydrated in the Florida heat.
