A new character just moved into Magic Kingdom!

Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin is BACK!
Now that Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin is reopening on April 8th, we need to tackle the elephant in the room – we like the ride’s new character just as much as Buzz himself!
During previews of this Magic Kingdom ride, the mission has brought us a new friend! Buddy is the Space Ranger training bot in the newly reimagined Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin. He trains Star Command cadets to take down the evil emperor Zurg at the start of the ride!

It’s Buddy!
Buddy won over our hearts as soon as we saw him. He’s playful and optimistic, and he gives you a couple of lines of motivation as you’re sent off on your mission.

We love Buddy!
Buddy has some playful robotic voice lines that kick off your journey. He helps by giving you info about how to shoot the targets while holding a few up for you to practice on before the fight begins.

Let’s go beat Zurg!
We were able to ride Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin early to meet Buddy before the ride opens! It will officially open to the public on April 8th.

Our new favorite character in Tomorrowland?
He’s pretty dang cute, and we’re also addicted to the fact that he has a nametag.
Everyone, please say hello to our new bestie, Buddy the Robot! 👋 pic.twitter.com/4lbH6SY8w7

Disclosure: In nearly all circumstances, Disney Food Blog writers and photographers pay full price for their own travel, hotel, food, beverage, and event tickets. We do this because it’s important to us as journalists to ensure not only that we give you unbiased opinions, but also that you can trust us to do so since we’re paying our own way. On rare occasions, when we are invited by a company to attend a preview as media, and when we choose to accept that invitation, we will always make you, our readers, aware of that situation. Today, we were invited by Disney World to attend their media preview of Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin. Note that when we attend events as media we are 1) Not required to review that event/food on any of our channels, and 2) Not required to review that event/food favorably. You can always count on DFB to give you a 100% unbiased and honest review of any event that we attend, food that we eat, or beverage that we drink. You can see more in our Disclosure Policy.
