A guest staying at Disney’s All-Star Sports Resort in 2022 is suing Disney World seeking damages for $50,000 due to being “bitten numerous times by cimicidae (‘bedbugs’).”
The lawsuit says that Walt Disney Parks owed him “to use reasonable care in maintaining the premises in a reasonably safe condition; and to give the guest warning of concealed perils which are or should be known, and which are unknown to the invitee and cannot be discovered by the invitee through the exercise of due care.”
It also says that due to the Defendant’s negligence, the plaintiff has “suffered scarring, bodily injury, pain and suffering, disability, mental anguish, loss of the capacity for the enjoyment of life, medical expenses, loss of earnings, loss of the ability to earn money, financial loss, and property damage. The losses are either permanent or continuing, and Platform will suffer losses in the future.”
The $50,000 is for damages and excludes interest, costs, and attorney’s fees. The visit happened on May 15th, 2022, while the plaintiff was bitten by bedbugs and says that Disney owes him a duty to “use reasonable care” to maintain the hotel in safe conditions.
The lawsuit is requesting trial by jury, judgment for damages, and costs, and anything further that the court sees as appropriate.
As this is an ongoing case, we’ll be looking for more information as it develops and possibly goes to court. Make sure you keep following Disney Food Blog for more updates.
