If you’re a California local, you need to hear this! It was just announced that California drivers might soon have the opportunity to get Disneyland-themed license plates.

This is something that has existed for years in Florida, and we are thrilled to see it heading over to California. So let’s dive into how you can grab one of these license plates and the amazing reason why you should. 

California state officials just announced plans to launch a Disneyland-themed license plate to raise money for children’s hospitals all across California. The California State Treasurer’s Office has stated that to move forward, they need 7,500 people to join the preorder interest list.

Then they can start the Department of Motor Vehicles’ approval process. Once the number is met, the design review process will start, and they expect to reveal the final design and open presale orders in the next few months.

These specialized plates will cost $50 for sequential numbers and then $103 if you would like them to be personalized. There will also be annual renewal fees of $40 and $83, depending on whether you purchased the personalization.

Now, let’s get into the most exciting element of this new license plate: they will be raising money for California children’s hospitals! Here is a list of all the hospitals that will be benefiting from this program:

• Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital
• Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford
• MemorialCare Miller Children’s & Women’s Hospital Long Beach
• Rady Children’s Health Orange County
• Rady Children’s Health San Diego
• UC Davis Children’s Hospital
• UC Irvine Health Children’s Hospital
• UCLA Mattel Children’s Hospital
• UC San Diego Health Children’s Hospital
• UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland
• UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital San Francisco
• Valley Children’s Hospital
