If you are planning to visit Walt Disney World in Florida, there is a good chance your vacation will include a stop at the Orlando International Airport. Between the Disney Store and the iconic green MCO carpet, there is a lot to love about this airport.
However, a fan-favorite restaurant is closing soon after just two years of operating. Let’s get into everything we know.
Located in Terminal B at MCO, the popular Gastrohub restaurant is set to close permanently on June 30th. This spot combines quick convenience with great quality dining and is a popular spot to eat at the airport.
However, the restaurant’s operator recently filed a WARN notice (Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification) indicating the upcoming closure. And unfortunately, this closure will lead to large layoffs.
This spot has only been open for two years since May 2nd, 2024, and it is currently believed that this closure is due to the Orlando International Airport’s large Concession Master Plan, in which they are planning for an overhaul that involves a massive, multi-phase renovation of over 200,000 square feet across Terminals A and B.
This transition is slowly taking place as vendor contracts expire and new contracts take effect. Overall, this closure is a sign of the major changes we can expect to see in the Orlando Airport over the next several years. It may even look similar to the gorgeous Terminal C that opened in 2022.
However, in the meantime, there are still lots of places to grab a bite to eat at MCO, and if you’re in terminal B after the Gastrohub closure, you can visit Outback Steakhouse, Bahama Breeze, and many other dining locations.
UPDATE: During a recent visit to the Orlando Airport in July, we noticed that Gastrohub was still operating. The closure might be coming later, so we will keep an eye on it. You can check the Orlando Airport’s website for more up-to-date information.
We will make sure to keep you informed of all MCO news and updates, so stay tuned to Disney Food Blog so you never miss anything!
