We recently took a trip to visit Dollywood, and now, this one hotel feature has us begging Disney for an upgrade.

I wasn’t expecting one of my favorite parts of staying at Dollywood’s Heartsong Lodge & Resort to have absolutely nothing to do with the pool, the food, or even the location. But after spending a few nights there, I came home wondering one thing: why doesn’t every Disney World hotel have this?!

Inside every guest room at Heartsong Lodge, you’ll find a white noise machine sitting right on the desk. At first glance, it doesn’t seem like anything special, but once we started using it, we quickly realized it was unlike any white noise machine we had tried before.

Instead of picking from a handful of preset sounds, you can completely customize your own mix. Want the sound of rainfall with just a little bit of birds chirping in the background? You can do that. Prefer more wind and less water? Just turn the dials until you’ve created the perfect combination. You can even control how much of each individual sound you hear, which made it incredibly easy to find exactly what helped me fall asleep after a long day in the parks.

It honestly became one of our favorite parts of returning to the hotel each night. After walking miles around Dollywood and spending all day on our feet, climbing into bed with that personalized sound mix made it so much easier to relax and get a great night’s sleep.

EZVALO White Noise Machine

By the end of my stay, we had one very disappointing realization — we wouldn’t have this amazing sleep setup once we checked out. Thankfully, we found out you can actually buy almost the exact same white noise machine online. If you end up loving it as much as we did, you don’t have to leave it behind at the hotel.

As much as we loved this feature, it immediately made me think about something Disney World hotels already do really well. Many Disney Resort hotels are equipped with the Hey Disney! device, a customized version of Amazon Alexa that helps guests throughout their stay. You can ask it about park hours, transportation, weather forecasts, hotel amenities, and even request certain guest services without ever picking up the room phone.

After experiencing Heartsong’s white noise machine, though, we couldn’t help but imagine how incredible it would be if Disney combined these two ideas. Imagine walking back into your Disney Resort room after a full day at Magic Kingdom or EPCOT and asking Hey Disney! to play your favorite customized sleep sounds before bed. Better yet, Disney could take it even further with themed soundscapes inspired by each resort. Guests staying at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge could drift off to peaceful forest sounds. At Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, you could fall asleep listening to gentle ocean waves and tropical breezes. Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge could feature relaxing nighttime sounds inspired by the savanna. It feels like a natural addition to a device Disney already has in so many of its hotel rooms.

Disney World resorts already do so many things well, and we still love staying in them. But after experiencing this feature at Heartsong Lodge, we can’t help wishing Disney would borrow the idea.
