Channel your inner Pirate! Tortuga Tavern welcomes you to a quaint Caribbean village at this seasonally-open eatery serving – as the sign says — “Grub and Grog!”
Tortuga Tavern
This counter-service restaurant is located across from the famous Pirates of the Caribbean attraction in Magic Kingdom’s Adventureland. Again, Tortuga Tavern is a seasonal location, which serves lunch and dinner when it does welcome guests.
As a seasonal location, the menu tends to see some changes, so you never know exactly what you’ll find. However, recent offerings have included a surprising and unique Peanut Butter Banana Nutella Sandwich!
Dine in the covered open-air pavilion with large ceramic tiles and decor reminiscent of an old-world pirate’s favorite ‘pub serving grub.’
Note that this spot was formerly named El Pirata y El Perico.

Say “Ahoy!” to Tortuga Tavern if you…
- Want something besides the typical theme park food: While this restaurant isn’t open year-round, the menu often features some snacks you won’t find elsewhere! For anyone tired of chicken tenders and French fries, check out the menu here instead!
- Are obsessed with Pirates of the Caribbean: It’s a pirate-themed restaurant – need we say more? Of course, the Beak & Barrel lounge next door is LOADED with pirate-themed decorations, but this is a great alternative for those who couldn’t get a reservation at the bar.
- Need to kill time before a reservation: Speaking of the Beak & Barrel, here’s a hot tip! Disney is pretty strict about reservations at the Pirates of the Caribbean bar next door, so if you’ve got a dining reservation or Lightning Lane coming up, Tortuga Tavern is a great spot to hang out before your reservation is called. It’s convenient, serves quick and easy snacks, and offers plenty of seating.
Say “By your leave” to Tortuga Tavern if…
- You’re looking for a consistent, tried-and-true option: The operating hours at this restaurant are inconsistent. It’s really more of a seasonal spot, so it’s hard to call this a “must-visit” when the experience can be so different from season to season.
- You’re looking for the best quick-service food that Magic Kingdom has to offer: This is a handy spot to visit if you’re in the Adventureland area, but would we recommend making a special trip to Tortuga Tavern? Probably not.
- You’re hungry for dessert: Of course, the menu may change depending on the season, but we don’t typically see a whole lot of desserts served at this restaurant. Luckily, Magic Kingdom is pretty famous for serving a TON of great sweet treats, so you don’t have to walk far to find dessert. (We recommend Sunshine Tree Terrace – they’ve got DOLE Whip!)
Important Info:
- This restaurant is located near some popular attractions; the Jungle Cruise, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, and Big Thunder Mountain. It’s a good spot to plan a quick service meal around FastPass times for those attractions, when it is open.
