Editor’s Note: As of 2013, the English Bulldog is no longer on the Rose & Crown pub menu.
So, I was looking at the Rose & Crown pub menu one day and I saw this:
Yes, PLEASE!
It took a while for me to get back to the World and get my hands on one, but I was thrilled when my buddy Lisa from Babes in Disneyland agreed to head to the pub with me to try one last month!
Atmosphere
We arrived right at opening to a nearly deserted pub and quickly grabbed a table.
Luckily, my favorite bartender (and yours!!), Carl, was on duty! I was thrilled to see him! It was my first time stopping by when he was working since I wrote that fun piece about him last year.
Carl quickly took our order and sat us down with a table number for when the order came up.
He then shared with us his goal of creating the perfect Scotch Egg at home!! He even stopped by the table to show off photos from his phone 🙂
This is why we think Carl is one of the greatest cast members ever. He remembers everyone. (Did you know he has a guest photo album on the bar?!) He can’t wait to hear how you are. And he can’t wait to share what he’s been up to as well. There’s nothing better than feeling like you have a “local” in your favorite place in the world, and Carl has an incredible knack of making sure that the hundreds of thousands of people that come through the Rose and Crown’s doors every year feel as though they’re his very favorite customer.
Eats
Anyway, back to the Bulldog! The orders soon came up and we were graced with some of the greatest junk food known to man. I have no idea why I didn’t discover these sooner, but, my friends, you need to try this! Sausage, mashed potatoes, bacon, cheddar, and mustard — heavenly!
The best part? Two of these — plus sodas — cost about $20!! That’s around (if not less than) what you’ll pay in a counter-service restaurant for two adult meals! Sit down. Relax. Chat with Carl. Be served at your table. And eat incredible food. This is a great deal.
If you’re interested in the rest of the items available from the pub, here’s the deal:
Overall
Rose & Crown Pub is a hidden gem in Disney World. Great food, good people, and a wonderful atmosphere all combine to create one of the best Disney food experiences out there.
But understand that the pub does get crowded in the afternoon and evening, so if you want a relaxing visit like I had, head over when they start serving at noon.
Highly recommended!

Always like to see articles about my ‘home’ pavilion! The grub looks good but I think a lot of the food items are an ‘interpretation’ of our meals back home (a lot more fancy in the R&C)!!
I will say though that the atmosphere in the Rose and Crown when busy is JUST likes our pubs over here!
Carl seems like a great cast member and one who I look forward to saying hello to during our next visit, in our very ‘proper’ English accents of course!!
DisneyMommy says
It looks like a wonderful spot for a meal. Does anyone know if children are allowed to join you at the tables even though it is a “pub”? Or, do I need to save this for an adults-only meal?
The World of Deej says
I’ve spent far too many hours in the R&C Pub, but I’m proud of it!:)
Jenn says
Love love love R&C but have honestly never eaten there. The English Bulldog sounds amazing so it’s definitely on my list next time I stop in for a Guinness and Strongbow…or two… 🙂
Sarah says
I’ve never eaten at R&C. We always just seem to drink there. 😉 But the English Bulldog looks like a must have, and sooner rather than later!
Mark D. says
First, that dog looks fantastic.
Second, what I got from this article is that I am not the only one who looks at all the menus when I am not at Disney so that I can see what I must try the nest time I am there.
Mrs. Bee says
I am going to WDW for the first time in September and now I’m trying to change around my schedule so I can get this English Bulldog! I am wiping the drool off of my shirt as I type. I am also wondering if kids can sit in the pub area. We will have our 2 and 4 year old boys with us.
Afoodie says
OMG, I want an English Bulldog now!!!! Only thing hubby & I have ever eaten there is the fish & chips during the Food & Wine Festival — which also is amazing! Got to check this out!
Chelsi says
Our favorite place at Epcot and our favorite man Carl! English Bulldog on the list for our next visit – !!!
Shayne says
Holy cow, how have I never noticed this before? It’s because I always go in wanting fish & chips so I don’t look at the menu. Adding this to the list of “must try” foods for our next trip. I think I gained 5 lbs. just looking at the photo!
Dave says
Found this menu by accident, lucky me. Now its a tradition. One of my favorite meals, a Bulldog and a Bumblebee. I was lucky to be able enjoy this meal about a month ago. Can’t wait for next time. My other hidden gem is the bar in 50’s Prime Time Cafe for a pot roast.
Sally says
@DisneyMommy Children are most definitely allowed at the tables!
Every ‘girl’ trip we get the English Bulldog and a pint to start our tour of the World Showcase. Unfortunately we couldn’t on St Patrick’s Day … no tables in the Pub area and no food. Very disappointing but I guess they were expecting huge crowds!

I LOVE the Rose and Crown and all of the cast members that go along with it. We are definitely regulars there. I loved your shout out to Carl. He is amazing. My hubby and I are in his photo album since we always stop for our Guiness and Strongbow. Oddly enough, I have never even seen the Bulldog on the menu, but I do believe that is a must try on our next visit in three weeks!!!
Shayne says
BTW, the bacon doesn’t look “chopped” as advertised on the menu. Was it whole slices of bacon-y goodness?
Erin says
I might just have to go there on Sunday! The English Bulldog looks yummy.
Anna says
Does anyone know if the souvenir cups that some of the drinks come in are Rose & Crown specific, or just Disney Parks?
Alan says
I haven’t had this item as it is always so crowded by the time I get to the R&C, and I don’t want to bother. But I love the idea of a complete meal on a bun – you know a walk around Disney snack. How about fish and chips on a hard roll, Sheperd’s Pie in a pita or maybe Guinness Stew on a bagel… Well maybe that one wouldn’t work as a walk around sandwich.

Emma — You’re going to LOVE Carl. Agreed — R&C, when busy, is very British-y. 😉
DisneyMommy — As Sally said, yep — you can bring kids in!
Deej — Yay! I wish I could spend more hours there.
Jenn — Indeed. What makes it great is that you can get it at the bar versus getting a table in the restaurant. Perfect grab-and-go.
Sarah — I sense a fun adventure pre-Behind the Seeds!!
Mark D. — I’ve gotta have something to dream about, so I’m always watching the menus! 😉
Mrs. B — How exciting! Your first trip! Definitely go to the pub early, then — noon or 12:30 — to be sure to get a table. There are no ressies for the pub, only for the dining room.
Afoodie — Yes! Let us know what you think!
Chelsi — You’re gonna love it! Would love to go visit Carl with you guys someday!
Shayne — It’s a must-try! I’ve been trying to get at it for quite a while now! The bacon seemed more slicey than chopped, yes.
Dave — Absolutely! The Tune-In Lounge is great!
Sally — A good reason NOT to visit on St. Paddy’s Day! Thanks for the tip!
Tara — They hide the bulldog — and the scotch egg — on the menu! Your eyes automatically go to the alcohol! 😉
Erin — Let us know if you go!!
Anna — GREAT question! I meant to order one to find out. Looks like I have to take a research trip!
Alan — Ha! Have you seen the Handwich?
Alan says
It’s great. Put some ice cream in there and you’ve got something!!

I don’t know how I missed this post! I had such an amazing day with you running around Epcot and eating at Rose and Crown. When I am having a rough day, I think about it and I’m instantly in a better mood! I am thinking about TRYING to replicate the English Bulldog at home. I doubt it will be as good.
Amanda says
Oh my goodness, this looks so good. And this is at the pub, not the table service restaurant? I’m putting this on my mental to-do list for my next trip.
