Great news! I got the chance to speak with Epcot Park Event Content Development Manager Michael Jenner — basically the head honcho when it comes to food at this year’s Flower and Garden Festival — and now I’m excited to share not only his recommendations for noshing around the World this spring, but everything that will be on offer at this year’s Festival!
As you know, the 2013 event will be the first to debut multiple food and beverage marketplaces throughout the World Showcase.
Today, we’ve got a few more great updates and tips to share, plus we’ve got the FULL list of food and beverage offerings! Click here to see everything you’ll be able to try during the festival this year!
Q&A with Michael Jenner
I can’t wait to try all of the new goodies at the Festival this year! Let’s find out how this awesome addition came about…
Q: What brought about the idea of bringing more food and beverages to the Flower and Garden Festival?
A: We’ve been wanting to do this for several years. It’s been a daytime festival, so even though the parks stayed open at night, the festival kind of shut down. By adding the Food and Beverage component, as well as lit topiaries this year, the festival can continue after dark.
Guests have also been interested in the natural progression of food from garden to table. So the 12 new marketplaces will feature huge gardens in front of them, and the menus will feature ingredients inspired by what we’re displaying in those gardens.
Q: What are a couple of dishes you’re most excited about and recommend?
A: I’ll be at the Smokehouse Barbecue and Brews marketplace all day. We’ll actually have a wood burning smoker on stage smoking the pig for the pulled pig slider. The Smoked Brisket with Collard Greens with Jalapeno Cornbread just melts in your mouth! Also, portions at the smokehouse will be hearty-sized, not tapas-sized — you can’t do barbecue small!
I’m also excited about the Dole Whip with spiced rum at the Pineapple Promenade . We’ll be selling both regular dole whip and the spiced rum version, and the staff is really excited about it.
The Florida Fresh marketplace is featuring ingredients from local farms, and I love the Shrimp and Stone Ground Grits with Andouille Sausage, Zellwood Corn, Tomatoes and Cilantro. It pairs well with the Hot Sun Tomato Wine, which has a spicy, almost Bloody Mary taste.
Q: What other surprises can we expect at the Flower and Garden Festival this year?
A: We’re finalizing the Passport for the Flower and Garden Festival. This will be a lot like the Epcot Food and Wine Festival passport, with which guests can get stamps when they visit various marketplaces.
We’re also excited about the “TRYit” items on the marketplace menus. These are specialty items that are inspired by the gardens around the World Showcase. They’re perfect ways for you (or the kids!) to try something new. One of these items is the Beet Lollipop, a “push-up” filled with roasted red and golden beets and cream cheese. It will be found at Intermissions Cafe in the Festival Center!
You’ll also want to check out the Oz Garden, inspired by the new Disney film, Oz, the Great and Powerful. This playground will be lit so the kids can play at night, and it’s the perfect place for them to blow off some steam while you (the parents) indulge in food from the marketplaces. The Oz Garden is scheduled to open next week (February 11th)!
Now let’s jump right into the full list of incredible eats and drinks you’ll have the chance to indulge in during the festival!

What are you most looking forward to trying?
I can’t wait to sample all of these goodies!! What items are you most looking forward to trying? Let us know!
Lisa says
I’ll be at WDW in May for the Expedition Everest Challenge. Initially I wasn’t that interested in the flower & garden festival, but this has got me really excited. I think there might actually be more items in this list that I want to try compared to the food & wine festival last year.
AJ says
Lisa — It’s going to be awesome!! I can’t wait to check it out. 🙂 That Dole Whip is all mine, but I really can’t wait to head to the smokehouse, too.
S says
will the foods be available as a snack credit on ddp like the f&w booths?
Lise says
AJ, any news on gluten free items?
Jaia says
I wish I was going to be there for this! It looks delicious plus it will add a potentially fabulous new dimension to the event. Fingers crossed for a trip next year!
Rebecca says
I think the guava flan sounds delicious along with the rose and violet lemonades. The green tea flan sounds interesting, don’t know if that one would taste good though. I’m interested to see what a “Bubble Tea” is going to be. I guess I’ll find out soon!!
Anastasia says
Boba tea in China?! @_@ Yay!!! Though, I wish they also had boba smoothies on tap, but I understand they have limited space…the Rocky Road Mousse Brownie sounds really good too.
barbara says
I really hope this works out, sounds like a fantastic way to visit the Flower & Garden Festival. My biggest concern is the reason I not longer go to the F/W Fest: all the drunks! I’m wondering if Disney learned anything thru the years about controlling these inconsiderate party poopers and if there will be some sort of limit to the number of ways alcoholic drinks will be served to people. Seems every year the F/W Festival gets worse with drunks and ruins it for everyone else trying to visit the park without getting thrown up on or pushed/shoved by people trying to start fights or crying in corners (yep, seen every one of these events!) I dont know the answer, but I hope someone in WDW does.
Debbie says
I can’t wait to try many of the items. I want the Watermelon Salad, Pulled Pig Sliders, Frushi, all of The Cottage offerings. I was going to list them all but the list was insanely long. There is something at every stop that I want to try.
I have a feeling the Smokehouse will be impossibly busy.
Thank goodness we are there for a week. I need to go to the gym now so I can have the stamina for this adventure.
Mark D. says
These items look so fantistic I am considering changing my first F&W trip to another F&G trip. Probably too short notice to change, but I really hope they have some of these (smokehouse, shrimp & grits, dole whips) at the F&W festival.
Steven says
looks like our spring trip is gonna give me a f&w fix until our fall trip 6 months later to the actual f&w festival! trying it all!
Summer says
I love this idea!!!! I’d seriously consider changing my F&W trip this year to a F&G trip, but we’ve already invited some family to come with us in the fall so I will probably have to wait until 2014 to check this “mini-food & wine” festival out! I’ve been to the F&G fest a few times and always thought it was beautiful and interesting, but felt like it was lacking…I really hope this new food & beverage element takes off. I will most definitely be looking to book a Spring trip for this next year if it does. Until then, I will be dreaming of spiced rum dole whip….where has that been all my life?!?!?! lol 🙂
Tiffani says
I can’t even tell you how excited I am for this. I’ll be back for F&W, but honestly, Epcot just made F&G a must see event for me! Spiced dole whip & lemoncello panna cotta have my name all over it!
Mamaleficent says
What a great lineup! To my surprise, many of the offerings seem even more exotic than what was at F&W last fall. Congrats to WDW for not playing it safe with this new experiment. I’m eager to experience it; I just hope the crowds aren’t too crazy when we’re there Easter week.
Sue V. says
I’m so glad I’ll have the opportunity to visit F&G at least three times! The food looks great, and will require several days to try. I hope one of the craft beers at the BBQ and Brewhouse is my favorite, Leinenkugel’s!!! It finally made it to F&W two-three years ago.
Pat O'Shea says
My sis and I have attended the Food and Wine Festival for the past 7 yrs. and we have found that weekends are the worst time during F&W. We go for 10 das. and usually avoid the weekend population. We have never encountered any drunk or disorderly but I’m sure it happens however, it doesn’t sway us from attending. We anxiously look forward to this trip, enjoy the seminars and tastings and are looking ahead to our 2013 trip.
Dave says
AJ any plans to do a pod cast on your personal recomendations for each market place once you try them. I am going to be there in April and May for the Everest Challenge
Heather says
I am so disappointed that I’m not going there until right after this, any idea if there’s going to be a cookbook like there is with the food and wine festival?
Alexis says
Will their be a list/map of gluten free offerings like their was for the 2012 Food and Wine Festival? That was so helpful!
AJ says
Alexis — We can’t be sure. That was the very first time Disney did anything like that, so we can hope that it’s a trend from now on!
AJ says
Heather — I’m not sure on that one, either. My guess would be no, but Disney does like to take advantage of their merchandise opportunities! We’ll keep an ear to the ground for you!
Greg says
We just so happened to have a short trip planned for Disney that happens to coincide with this event. We are really excited about this.
Crystal says
Anyone got the pricing? How much is all this going to set me back?!? 🙂
Chris says
Pineapples in Canada??
Linda H-R says
I can’t wait to go. I am excited about the food that will be served. I always enjoy the concerts. I am so glad they are trying this theme this year with the food! Disney does it right!!!
