Here’s another tucked away snack option for you in Disney’s Hollywood Studios!
You’ll remember a couple of weeks ago when we talked about Hey Howdy Hey Takeaway in the Pixar Place area of Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Today, we’re taking you straight to the back of the park to find another fun spot for snacks on the go: Herbie’s Drive-In.
The spot is themed after everyone’s favorite little love bug — Herbie! It even features his trademark number “53” and blue and red stripes.
The menu shows a standard list of Disney stroll and eat foods — corn dog, chili dog, a side of chili, and assorted chips and other snacks. There’s a 70s vibe here as well, with the red, white, and blue stars motif — very reminiscent of the Bicentennial celebrations.
And another cool 70s choice — you can get your Corn Dog and Chips served out of R2D2’s head!
Note that many of the items here are available for a snack credit as well.
So since you guys now how much I LURVE nachos and plastic cheese, I opted for some Nachos with Cheese. This is what I received.
Now…you know…this is fine. I mean, everything is sealed and individually packaged, so at least I know it’s clean, right? But to me, nachos and cheese implies that plastic cheese I know and love. And while this was slightly warmed…it wasn’t exactly what I would have chosen.
But I went ahead, opened the chips and placed them in the chip area, and opened the Ortega cheese. It was fine, and it filled that nacho craving. But I wish they’d warn you ahead of time that you aren’t getting REAL plastic cheese.
Another real upside to having your nachos served this way is that you know exactly what you’re eating, because the ingredients and nutritional information is right there to read.
Was I happy to know that my bag of chips contained three servings and my cheese dip was four servings? I’ll let you be the judge of that one. 🙂
With all that salty goodness, I also needed a beverage. A very cool point about this kiosk is that they serve frozen coolers (basically icees.) You can choose from Coca-Cola or Lemonade. I went with the Lemonade (natch).
This is definitely an icee-type drink, a lighter, less-dense-than-a-slushee concoction with a high ratio of frozen to liquid. But the tart-sweet flavor and super cold consistency were just right.
This was a great stop. I mean, it may not have all the cuteness of Hey Howdy Hey Takeaway, but it works for what it is. And I love that they’ve got this throwback to Herbie in an area that also celebrates a new generation of racing car love, with the nod to Cars that you see in Lights, Motors, Action!
So if you find yourself in need of a pick me up while you’re waaaay back in the back of the park, give Herbie’s a try. And if you try the chili dog or the side of chili, definitely let us know what you think!
Have you stopped by Herbie’s Drive-In for a bite or a drink? Tell us about it in the comments!
