Picture this: You’re in Disney World, having the time of your life. You’re hitting all the rides you want using Disney’s skip-the-line Lightning Lane service or just by strategically checking wait times on the My Disney Experience app. You’re eating everything on your Dining Bucket List with a little help from Mobile Order and all the Advance Dining Reservations you’ve made. It’s the perfect moment to snap that precious picture of your little one with the one and only Mickey Mouse! And THAT’S when it happens…

…you’ve received the dreaded “Low Battery” message on your phone. We’ve all been there… and frankly, we’ve been there more often these days with all of the trip planning tools available on our phones, which also happen to be our cameras. You’ve got to recharge your phone, but what if you don’t have your own charger, or maybe you’ve forgotten your charging cord? Good news: There’s a fix to this problem right in the Disney World parks and Resorts… and it’s available at more locations than you might think!

So, where are all of these helpful spots? Well, before we talk about the where, let’s talk about the WHAT…

FuelRod Overview

FuelRods are portable chargers for your electronics. They can be purchased at kiosks around Disney World, and a fully charged FuelRod comes in a full kit, which also includes charging cables for various iPhones, micro USB Android devices, and a USB-C Adapter (needed for some Android devices).

The cost is $40 (plus tax) for the regular FuelRods, or you can pay $86 for the new FuelRod Max10 (which has AMAZING battery capacity). From here? Charge your phone right up, and when the FuelRod dies, you can swap it out for a charged one at any FuelRod station.

When it comes to swapping, please be aware that the Disney World website states that “Charges may apply,” but for the most part, swapping out your FuelRod won’t cost you anything extra, which is a big perk. You can also find FuelRod stations in airports, malls, and other theme parks, which makes it great to take on the go.

Purchase Your Own FuelRod

However, if $40 is too high a price to pay for one FuelRod (which we can understand), you can also purchase a pack of two FuelRods on Amazon ahead of your trip for about $45, or a pack of three for around $75. As for the FuelRod Max 10, it’s available on Amazon as well for about $75.

You can purchase these online, and swap them out in the parks as normal, or just charge them up each night before your next trip in the parks. This is a great way to save a little bit of money, but still have the convenience of swapping them out as needed if you’re in a pinch.

The My Disney Experience will lead you to “Portable Phone Charging System Kiosks” on the app, even if you search “FuelRod” specifically.
