Welcome to the “Hollywood that never was — and always will be.” It’s Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Walt Disney World!

Welcome to Disney’s Hollywood Studios!
Disney’s Hollywood Studios opened on May 1, 1989 as Disney-MGM Studios. The words of Michael Eisner’s opening day speech can still be read on a dedication plaque in the park: “The World you have entered was created by the Walt Disney Company and is dedicated to Hollywood — not a place on the map, but a state of mind that exists wherever people dream and wonder and imagine, a place where illusion and reality are fused by technological magic. We welcome you to a Hollywood that never was — and always will be.”

Parades and Fireworks
Please Note: As Walt Disney World continues in its phased reopening, experiences that gather crowds including evening spectaculars are temporarily suspended.
Disney’s Hollywood Studios is home to not one, but TWO nighttime spectaculars!
Fantasmic!
Fantasmic! is a truly unforgettable production at the Hollywood Hills amphitheater. Combining water effects, fireworks, and appearances by literally dozens of Disney characters — all set to Disney songs in an original story starring none other than Mickey Mouse — it’s a show you won’t want to miss!
Fantasmic! is only performed on select nights, though two showings are often available during busier seasons. You’ll want to check My Disney Experience or the Times Guide in the park map for showtimes during your trip so you don’t miss it!
Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular
End your day in Hollywood Studios by viewing a stunning tribute to the sights and sounds of Star Wars with Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular! The replica of the Chinese Theater (home to Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway) is the backdrop for projections of characters and scenes from the Star Wars films!
Lasers and fireworks join the projections, and it’s all set to music from the movies by John Williams. Check My Disney Experience or the Times Guide in the park map for showtimes during your trip so you don’t miss it!
Entertainment
Please Note: As Walt Disney World continues in its phased reopening, experiences that gather crowds including several live entertainment acts are temporarily suspended.
The Citizens of Hollywood provide “Streetmosphere” in Hollywood Studios, and bring the Boulevards to life with improvisational performances involving… YOU, the guest!
When the Citizens perform, appearances are intermittent, and they could pop up and surprise you anywhere!
Enjoy performances by the Green Army Drum Corps in Toy Story Land!
Their buddies in the Green Army Patrol just may recruit you for boot camp, too. ATTENTION!!
Celebrate 90 years of Disney and Pixar animation with an evening viewing of the Wonderful World of Animation! Projections of memorable scenes from Disney films are presented on the replica of the Chinese Theater (home to Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway), accompanied by those classic Disney songs.
You’ll see characters and scenes from films including — but not limited to — Sleeping Beauty, Coco, Frozen, and more!
Disney Movie Magic is another projection show, also presented at the Chinese Theater. This one celebrates the magic of live-action films. The show casts projections from live-action Disney movies on the Chinese Theatre, featuring scenes from films including Indiana Jones, Mulan, and Pirates of the Caribbean.
Check My Disney Experience or the Times Guide in the park map for showtimes during your trip so you don’t miss a thing!
Characters
While traditional Meet and Greets are currently suspended during the phased reopening of Disney World, Hollywood Studios guests can see beloved Disney friends as they appear throughout the day in charming Character Motorcades!
BUT a few Character Meet-and-Greets WILL RETURN to Disney’s Hollywood Studios (in a modified fashion) in November!
Click HERE to read about the RETURN of Character Meet-and-Greets in Disney World!
There are several locations dedicated to Character Meet-and-Greets where you can be certain to encounter your favorites when Character Meets return in full.

Character Meals
Hollywood & Vine Restaurant hosts Character Meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. But the characters you encounter depend on the time of day you dine!
Party with the Playhouse Disney Characters during breakfast as you chow down on some great food at the Disney Junior Play ‘n Dine Breakfast!
Though characters may vary, Fancy Nancy, Vampirina, Doc McStuffins, and Roadster Goofy are often your hosts for this high-energy start to the day!
Lunch and Dinner at Hollywood & Vine is also a character meal; however, these mealtimes feature Minnie’s Seasonal Dine!
Minnie Mouse is the hostess for various “dinner parties” throughout the year, and she’s often joined by Mickey, Donald, Daisy, and Goofy (we’ve also seen Pluto from time to time)!
More Character Appearances
Please Note: As Walt Disney World continues in its phased reopening, experiences that gather crowds including several live shows are temporarily suspended.
Guests can see all of their favorites from Beauty and the Beast, including Belle, Lumiere, Cogsworth, Chip, and Mrs. Potts, performing beloved songs from the film during Beauty and the Beast — Live on Stage!
Oh, and Gaston makes a BIG appearance, too, of course. 😉 Performances take place in the Theater of the Stars on Sunset Boulevard.
See Ariel, Prince Eric, and all of their friends from “Under the Sea” in Voyage of The Little Mermaid!
Ariel’s journey is presented with live performances of songs from The Little Mermaid along with puppetry, clips from the animated film, and more.
Do you feel the pull of the Dark Side? If so, that might be because you can see Darth Vader and Kylo Ren at the Jedi Training Academy throughout the day!
Check My Disney Experience and the Times Guide for showtimes!
