My family and I stay at Shades of Green, at least once or twice every year for a week at a time and just love it there. These continual special events and dining experiences are just another reason why we keep coming back to SOG. There always seems to be something going on at SOG that keeps you entertained when you need a break from the parks. You can’t beat the food and price at the two on-site restaurants, especially the all you can eat buffet, both during breakfast and dinner.
Unfortunately, we will not be at SOG this April to take advantage of these special events and experiences, but will be staying there in October for our annual trek to the F&W festival, minus the little ones:)
Thanks for including Shades of Green on the Disneyfoodblog. A hidden gem of WDW, no doubt!!

Is this only for the Military and their families ?
Or is the SOG open to the public?
Joni,
SOG is for active duty & retired military only. It is a fabulous hotel though with larger rooms than the rest of Disney’s resorts (around 450 sq ft). The main building was originally built by Disney as a deluxe resort with just 300 rooms surrounded by golf courses but they couldn’t keep it full. It was first leased and then sold to the military and is pretty much fully booked year-round.
