Well, I don’t know if this is a huge surprise with all of the upcoming construction at Disney’s Hollywood Studios to make way for Toy Story and Star Wars Lands, but it is with some melancholy that we learned that it is — indeed — official: this Holiday Season will be the final year for The Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights — the joyful and unique holiday celebration featuring millions of lights synchronized to holiday music at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The display will run from November 6, 2015 through January 3, 2016.
Two new events have been announced in conjunction with the final year of the Spectacle (a chance to “go out with a bang,” so to speak): the Merry & Bright Dessert Party will take place from November 6th – December 30th, and the Merry & Bright Dinner Reception will be available to book for the first days of the New Year, January 1 – 3, 2016.
Booking for these events opens on September 16th, and there is limited information at this time regarding menus and pricing for the events.
The Merry & Bright Dessert Party will certainly feature holiday-themed desserts in view of the dancing lights (probably similar to the Frozen Dessert Party last year), while the Merry & Bright Dinner Reception will feature small bites including beef, shrimp, and turkey along with specialty beverages and wine and beer offerings.
We’ll be sure to provide more information on these events as it becomes available. For now, we hope you have it in your holiday plans to be able to enjoy this wonderful holiday presentation one more time this year.
Again, booking for these evens begins Wednesday, September 16th. Be sure to plan ahead to get your reservation.
What is your favorite memory of The Osborne Spectacle of Dancing Lights? Please let us know with a comment!

Does anyone know what the prices will run yet for these?
Jill says
Do you have to call for reservations or will they be online?

So, we are going to Disney during those times. do you know if dining plans can cover this or is this always extra? and how do we go about signing up? online ? phone?
Richard says
Too bad….
For us we have always spent Christmas at Disneyland because of friends and family. Unfortunately we have already made our reservations for this year so it looks like we’ll miss the final year.
But on the good side, the crowds will be two people lighter so I expect some DFB fans to take our place…

If anyone is interested here is a little history.

Excited to see the end of the lights monstrosity! The question is, though, are the streets going away completely?

We finally saw these 2 years ago. Glad we did.

I’m trying to book the dessert party for our trip in deybut I can’t find anywhere on the website or my Disney Experience. Is anyone else having any luck?

Never mind! I got ahead of myself – today is not the 16th! 😉

I am going in December just thought I’d look at My Disney Experience just to see if the Dessert Party was there and sure enough it was. There was only one seating at 8:30pm it was around $54.00 per adult, I don’t know what the child price is since there aren’t any children going with us. They are not accepting any dining plans. I hope this answers some questions.

The Dessert Party is $69 and the dinner $99. We called 407-WDW-TOUR. I got in first thing this morning.
M'Shel says
I booked it this morning! I had to call to do it, though. It showed up as an option online, but you couldn’t select it. The price is $69 for adults, and that includes taxes and gratuity. You can cancel 1 day in advance. You must pay in full at time of booking. You can check in starting at 6 pm. You are also able to come and go as you please. I’m super excited, and my 15 year old is, too!

We are doing on 12/7 and 12/25. So glad I was able to get reservations! My (now) husband proposed to me at the lights (because they are my favorite) 6 years ago. We are devastated that this will be the last year, but so glad that we get to experience them for the last season! (Please Disney, relocate them somewhere else, even if you charge admission to see them!!)
Kristie says
Hi! FYI, the reservations were not opened today.
Christy says
Kristie, they did open. You can reserve online or via calling for dining reservations. I was able to successfully book 2 different nights online. You do have to pay in advance for the experience.
Jeffrey Sank says
Called today and the dinner is sold out! We’ll definitely attend the last nights of the lights though.
