Disney World is feeding our Mermaid obsession again! What started out as one Mermaid cupcake became TWO Mermaid cupcakes… and SOON we’ll be getting a Mermaid Donut!
The folks at PopSugar had a chance to try this splash-tasic donut. As you can see, it’s for sure another Instagram-able treat from the pastry chefs at Disney.
This yeast donut is topped with purple icing, and some iridescent sprinkles (sticking with the iridescent trend). Then it is topped off with white chocolate shells and a mermaid tail. I mean, just “look at this stuff! Isn’t it neat?” 😉
You’ll be able to pick this up at Prince Eric’s Village Market in Magic Kingdom’s Fantasyland “soon”. And when you do, you can pair it with the newly introduced Flavored Frozen Cokes or Lemonades from Prince Eric’s Village Market as well!

Looks pretty darn yummy and very cute!
thunk says
a yeast doughnut is not like a cake doughnut! yeast doughnuts tend to have a lighter texture and are made with yeast, cake doughnuts are leavened with baking powder / soda.
Erica says
I thought a yeast doughnut was the opposite of a cake doughnut… Isn’t a glazed doughnut a yeast doughnut??
DFB Sarah says
Erica, yes, this is a glazed (yeast) doughnut.
DFB Sarah says
Thanks, Thunk!
Ann says
Erica, glazed is the stuff you put on the doughnut, not the actual type of dough. You can have a glazed cake doughnut and a glazed yeast doughnut, which most places call “raised”. I made doughnuts for several years. The yeast(raised) doughnuts are made with a yeast dough and must rise up, like bread. A cake doughnut is made with a batter which is similar to cake batter, hence the name. Both are fried and can have any number of toppings, like glaze or icing.
Erica says
Ann, yes, I realize that. But typically if you order a glazed doughnut it is a yeast doughnut . The review previously called the doughnut a yeast doughnut and cake doughnut in the same sentence, which is what I was commenting on.
