If you have been interested in purchasing your very own “Disney’s Walk Around the World” commemorative brick, but don’t have a trip to Disney World booked for this spring or summer season, you can now purchase your own on shopDisney.com!
Even if the name “Walk Around the World” doesn’t ring a bell, we bet you remember the hexagonal bricks displaying names and marking family milestones on the walkways around Magic Kingdom and the Ticket and Transportation Center!
These bricks are being removed from these locations as “improvements are being made to how you come and go at all four Walt Disney World Resort theme parks.” Disney announced back in March the reconfiguration coming to walkways and tram loading and unloading zones (along with enhancements to security screening).
Read all about the retiring of the Walk Around the World bricks here!
Since the bricks were not designed to be removed individually, Disney is offering the purchase of a personalized commemorative brick from now through August 31, 2019 (or while supplies last). Up until now, these bricks have only been available at Tomorrowland Light & Power Co. at Magic Kingdom and at the Marketplace Co-Op in Disney Springs. BUT NOW…guests can also purchase them on shopDisney.com.
The bricks are being sold in two different sizes. You can purchase a 6″ Commemorative Legacy Paver and an 8″ Commemorative Legacy Paver. They are also available with an ornament option! Anyone can purchase one of these personalized bricks — made of clay and with a felt bottom — to have in their own home. The 6″ brick is $29.99, the 8″ is $49.99, and the ornament is $24.99.
Each of these can be personalized FREE of charge using one of Disney’s six personalization options. The options for designs include Mickey Mouse, 2019 Walt Disney World, Wedding/Anniversary, Walk Around the World (designed specifically for Walk Around the World participants), Annual Passholder, and Disney Vacation Club.
There are a few personalization guidelines:
- Personalized copy is UPPERCASE only
- Line 1 (required): 20 characters
- Line 2 (required): 20 characters
- Line 3: 20 characters
- Line 4 (date): 11 characters
If You Sponsored A “Walk Around the World” Brick
Online Guidelines
For guests who purchased one of the original “Walk Around the World” bricks, when purchasing online Disney asks that you please note: “The 6” Commemorative Legacy Paver is eligible for the Disney’s Walk Around the World retirement program. Following the removal of the original bricks from Disney’s Walk Around the World at Magic Kingdom Park, Guests who had previously purchased one of the personalized bricks are now entitled to a discount when purchasing a 6” Commemorative Legacy Paver. Guests who believe they qualify for this program should email Walt Disney World Guest Services at [email protected] or call 407-828-2701 with the name and hometown of the Guest who sponsored the brick (Please note: shopDisney Guest Services team are not responsible for this program).”
In Walt Disney World
If you had sponsored a brick you can stop by City Hall at Magic Kingdom Park or Guest Relations at Disney Springs to verify your previous brick. You’ll be asked to share the name and hometown of the Guest who sponsored it.
After you verify, you’ll be given a one-time use voucher to present by, or before Aug. 31, 2019, at Tomorrowland Light & Power Co. in Magic Kingdom or at the Marketplace Co-Op in Disney Springs. This code will allow you to purchase a commemorative 6” brick for only $10 (plus tax).
