Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge

Opening on August 29, Galaxy’s Edge will put guests directly into the world of Star Wars when they set foot on Batuu, a planet tucked between the Unknown Regions and Wild Space, which is the setting for Galaxy’s Edge.
In addition to new restaurants and shops – along with immersive character interaction – you’ll also have a chance to take over the controls of the Millennium Falcon on the new attraction Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run. The land’s other attraction, Rise of the Resistance, is scheduled to open at a later date.
Keep in mind that capacity for Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, and its experiences is limited and may be restricted or unavailable depending on guest demand and other factors. Guests must be 38” to ride the Millennium Falcon.

It’s going to be a great summer at Disney World, but remember staying cool in the sizzling Florida sun is essential while touring the Disney parks. Read on for some great heat-busting tips!
Tips For Keeping Cool at Disney World This Summer
The agents at Small World Vacations know how to chill out when it’s hot. Here’s some of their tips and tricks to beat the heat:
- Go to the parks early in the morning, have lunch indoors, and then return to the hotel for a swim and/or nap in the A/C before heading back to the parks in the evening.
- Take advantage of Extra Magic Hours for Walt Disney World Resort guests, select Disney Springs Resort Hotels guests, and guests at the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin, and Four Seasons Orlando.
- Stay hydrated! Freeze a half-filled bottle of water and fill the rest with cool water. It will melt throughout the day and you always have COLD water. Remember: You can also get free cups of ice water at any quick service dining location.
- Fill a spray bottle or a hand-held, battery operated spray fan to spritz yourself with a mist.
- Graze on light, fresh, non-greasy foods that are easy to digest. Avoid big meals or heavy fast foods. Eat smaller portions of salads, cold protein, and fruits instead.
- Look for the interactive fountains at Epcot or Disney Springs and let the kids splash around (bring a bathing suit or change of clothes if they want to get really wet).
- Spend time in air conditioned attractions such as Soarin’, Flight of Passage, Mickey’s Philharmagic, Living Seas, Spaceship Earth, Tiki Room, Pirates of the Caribbean, Carousel of Progress, Star Wars Launch Bay, Indoor character meets, Tree of Life, The American Adventure, the World Showcase shops, Hall of Presidents, and more.
- Get wet on attractions like Splash Mountain or Kali River Rapids.
- Add the Park Hopper Plus Option to your theme park tickets and cool off at the Disney Water Parks.
- Add a few days to your trip so you can enjoy some down time each day to relax and avoid the heat and still be able to see everything.
And remember to spend some time at the pool at your Walt Disney World Resort Hotel – just one more perk of staying on property! Plus, Disney Resort guests can also enjoy exclusive early morning and evening Extra Magic Hours.
Transportation to the parks runs continuously so, you can return to your Disney Resort for a mid-day break and then, head back to the parks after dark. (Extended Extra Magic Hours are planned for September 1 – November 2).
