is opening NEXT week in Disneyland. And WE. CANNOT. WAIT!
We’ve been covering everything from Galaxy’s Edge menu options to merchandise and ride facts, and we thought we’d knew just what to expect on the planet of Batuu. But then we heard about this…
The OC Register shared a post which gave details about a slimy, one-eyed space squid that will be lurking in the “murky water of a glass cistern tank feeding a Disneyland drinking fountain.” When someone bends down to take a sip…a creature just might POP up to greet you. So…have those cameras ready for some funny moments.
Not only will you possibly see the creature, but you might hear it as well, since it will be lurking in the pipes connected to the water fountain and the bathroom.
This space squid is actually an audio-animatronic Dianoga that will call the pipes of the drinking fountain his home. The Walt Disney Imagineering executive creative director Chris Beatty said that “the sewer system contains a Dianoga to handle the sewer challenges that this outpost would have.” And big Star Wars fans might actually recognize this creature, as he’s the one that nearly drowned Luke Skywalker in A New Hope.
Now when it comes to the size of this creature, be prepared because the Beatty also shared that “This isn’t some baby Dianoga living in the Galaxy’s Edge subterranean pipes. It’s a full-size hairy eyestalk just like the one seen in the first Star Wars film.”
Disney has also shared that there are little moments like these sprinkled throughout the park, so keep those eyes peeled! After learning about this creature…we really don’t know what all Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will offer.
It’s really happening….can you believe it?

Will there be one arc a Disney World as well as Disneyland?
Louis Richards says
I was able to guess the answer to the question merely because the question was asked.
That and having been a Star Wars fan for ages.
