With the current closures of Disney theme parks and the Disney Cruise Line, the company is finding ways to help the world in its time of need.
You might remember that we asked for all those stay-at-homers out there to donate any extra rain ponchos to New York Hospitals a few days ago (they’re still accepting donations!). Well, Disney parks got in on the charitable spirit as well and donated 150,000 rain ponchos to hospitals in need during this time.
Disney parks produce a LOT of rain ponchos — Disney World is in Florida after all. So what better way to support hospitals than with the donation of this much-needed supply?!
Rain ponchos can help nurses in protecting their clothing, prolonging the use of personal protective equipment, and even freeing up hospital gowns in overloaded facilities. These donations went to MedShare, a humanitarian aid organization that can distribute them to hospitals in need.
The company was also able to donate over 100,000 N95 face masks to the states of New York, California, and Florida. These efforts are not the first that Disney has undergone (and they might not be the last) since the world crisis began.
Previously, they underwent efforts to donate unused food from the park closures to food banks. Disney has provided nearly $3 million in in-kind donations since March. Currently, the company is working on more ways to help out.
