As Disney Springs is set to reopen on May 20, many guests are wondering when Disney World will continue to reopen various parts of the resort, including the theme parks and resort hotels. Currently, reservations are available beginning June 1st.
Guests with upcoming Disney World bookings have begun to receive surveys with questions regarding various influencing factors on their future travel plans.
Thanks to our DFB reader Crystal D, we know that the survey asks guests to list factors that would cause them to either keep or cancel upcoming trips.
These include the limited availability of attractions and shows within the parks and having to change their current resort hotel to a comparable one.
The survey also gives guests the opportunity to fill in specific examples of what would be considered “deal breakers,” so to speak, when it comes to keeping or canceling their reservation. Guests were asked to comment on how committed they are to keeping their current Disney World reservation or if they are considering canceling their reservation.
Outside of any potential Disney World Resort offerings, the survey includes questions regarding other factors that may influence their decision to travel, including health and travel restrictions in a traveler’s home state and/or Central Florida, in addition to an increase in positive virus cases. Basic ‘demographic’ questions were included in this survey. A few specifically asked where a guest is traveling from and how many individuals are in their traveling group.
The survey also asks guests to rate when they would feel comfortable participating in various activities, including but not limited to attending concerts and sporting events, going to movie theaters, cruising, going to a theme park or hotel, dining out, or traveling by plane. The level of comfort was measured by 2-3 months, 4-6 months, or 6-12 months.

We will not go back to our happiest place until a vaccine is available and is proven effective.
We have a trip to WDW, arrival date June 20. We’ve had this trip booked for almost a year and would love to keep it of possible, as we’re celebrating our 20th anniversary.
We have our 10 year anniversary trip booked July 31 to aug 9th: sadly I don’t see it happening 🙁 as much as I want to go I don’t want to wear a mask and it’s a lot on my kids to wear them as well. Also we’re Canadians and the exchange is insane if I’m not gonna get the full Disney experience it’s not worth over 8 grand sadly 🙁 we will have to wait just don’t know when. I haven’t cancelled yet cause I still have hope we have the best reservations too 🙁
We have our trip booked for July 15. Still waiting to hear if Disney will all be open as well as the borders as we are coming from Canada. We would be celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary, but health and safety come first.
My daughter I and I are scheduled to go Mid- June. If they have at least 3 parks open we would go. I don’t think our hotel would be closed as it is the hub for the skyliner but maybe it will be.
I would be curious to know who exactly is getting this survey. Passholders? DVC? People already booked in a certain timeframe? More info would be appreciated if available.
I’m booked for June 1st. I haven’t received a survey yet, and I also haven’t heard if we will be able to go or if they will cancel us. Hoping to hear something soon :/
My daughter her friend and I have September 10/21 all set. We paid for flight, 10 park hopper plus. Rooms set also. We are planning on going if open. But yes masks would put a damper on things. And if everything isnt open, I will most likely cancel. Save it for next year, to much money to spend for not the entire experience.
Four of us are going in September to October for three weeks as DVC members. We are all 57-65 so older. Planning on staying pretty much at our resorts OKW and BWV, very little park time. We are driving from Texas as my wife is leery of airplanes.
We live in Ohio and ready to go anytime. Already had our March and May trip cancelled but have rescheduled June and July. We are ready and willing to follow any protocol to make that happen.
Hey Schuyler,
If you have a chance, would you mind keeping us updated on this thread as to whether or not you receive a survey, whether or not your trip looks like it’s going to go off as planned, etc.? If you have the chance to do this it would be very appreciated. I have a trip planned about a week and a half after yours and the more information that I can find, the better I’ll be able to plan for alternatives. Thanks, and I truly wish you the best of luck! Hope your plans go off safely!
I have a trip comfort early August with my family and I’m looking forward for the reopening of Walt Disney. Hope it open its parks before that date..
No surveys to us at this time, we are booked Saratoga Springs Resorts for Late August, we just drive down to relax and enjoy the resort , Disney Springs maybe a show, we are 70 and enjoy going to do 3 times per year, we just booked Saratoga for February 2021.
We have a trip booked for 20th July but are flying from the UK. At the moment we don’t know if flights will be allowed into the USA at that time. If not we should get a refund or a chance to rebook next year but it’s not pleasant waiting to find out.
I am scheduled to go November 8 to the 20th. I am going with my son and his family. We will go even if only one park is open. After all this shelter in place not being able to do anything we will need a vacation. WE WILL BE THERE.
We were booked for next week, May 16th to May 23rd, 2020 but our vacation has been cancelled. We were going to celebrate my husbands birthday and our 25th Wedding Anniversary with our son, daughter-in-law and her parents. We’re from Windsor, Ontario and our border across from Detroit, Michigan is still closed. Now, everyone has to see if they can get the time off of work if we book for November. But, the mask situation could change our travel plans.
My trip is planned for December 2020. I have not received anything yet.
we are due to travel from the U.K. early October We have an autistic son which maybe a problem for him to wear a mask all day and not understanding why things maybe closed as we’ve been preparing him for travel since we booked in 2019. We may have to rebook for late next year .
I certainly will keep you guys in the loop. We are about 2 weeks away and really need to know if we’re going or not. The suspense is killing me. I hope it lasts.
No sign of a survey for us, we were due to arrive on 7th June for almost 2 weeks for my 50th, but our airline have cancelled our flights so hope that disney close DVC so that we don’t have to claim it all on insurance. We will be back next year (hopefully)
Schuyler Thank you. I will look forward to hearing what you have to say. I’m due to arrive on the 13th and I have also not seen any sign of a survey. Looking at Disney books, I will venture a prediction. If they are going to open anytime in June they will be calling their employees back between the 20th or 23rd of this month to mark up the parks with tape and do all necessary training. I also think they will be initially limiting admission to hotel guest, since these are the people that by far spend the most per day at Disney. Good luck to us all; I’m sure that while we may be facing disappointment in the short term that we will all be OK in the end. Stay healthy!
We are DVC and booked at home resort August 23-30, hoping for “Mickey’s not so scary Halloween party.” Concerned because we are New York residents. No survey yet.
My thought is that the reason Disney is canceling trips on a week by week basis is because they are having to wait until Florida gets into phase 2 of its phased opening. Texas entered phase 2 after just a couple of weeks, meaning that if Florida is able to follow suit they would be going to phase 2 around the 18th (They started phase 1 reopening on May 4th). After Disney accumulates information from Shanghai as well as the Disney Springs reopening I would think we would hear something pretty soon after the state gives a thumbs up. Good luck everyone!
I had next weekend book, have had it booked awhile, I just canceled it. I have 2 long weekends booked, in June, July & August (covering my bases!), I am a passholder & I have not received any type of survey so far…
We were supposed to be at Disney right now— anyway, my comment is about mask wearing in the park during the heat of a Florida summer- I am 100% behind wearing masks but I see wearing them with tropical levels of heat and humidity undoable for many. I envision people taking them off- sweating, etc. Also, what about in swimming pools and at restaurants? I guess distancing will help in these scenarios. So many issues.
