It’s a great day to be a fan of Disney, Star Wars, and everything Disney+!
In the Disney Investor Day webcast, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy announced even MORE new Star Wars series heading to Disney+. This includes an original series of animated short films by some of Japan’s hottest anime creators called Star Wars: Visions.
The company also announced a series based on one of our favorite scoundrels, Lando Calrissian. Justin Simien is in the early stages of developing the event series.
Lucasfilm Animation has teamed up with Industrial Light & Magic to develop the movie A Droid Story, which is an “epic journey” that will introduce a new hero being guided by R2-D2 and C-3PO. AND The Acolyte series will take Star Wars fans to the final days of the High Republic era.
And in other news. We also got a premiere year for the upcoming Disney+ fantasy series Willow. Based on the 1988 fantasy of the same name, the show will star Warwick Davis and is directed by Jon M. Chu. It will be available on Dsiney+ in 2022.
There is SO much to look forward to on Disney+ over the next few years. We’ll keep you updated on other projects we learn about, too!
