Rise of the Resistance remains an extremely high-demand attraction in Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
With a virtual queue in use, this Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge ride is one of the most challenging attractions to get a seat on in all of Disney World. Now, Disney is changing the distribution times for accessing the virtual queue AGAIN.
Currently, Disney releases Boarding Groups for the attractions at two times. First at 7AM prior to park open, accessible by those with a valid Disney Park Pass reservation, and again at 2PM, accessible by those IN Hollywood Studios who did not get a morning Boarding Group.
Starting December 20th, though, we’ll see a slight shift in these times. The 7AM distribution period and location option will remain the same but the second window will move to 1PM instead of 2PM.
Remember that access to a Boarding Group is subject to availability, so you’ll need to act quickly when that window opens. We’ve got all the tips you need right here!
Another thing to note is that park hopping begins on January 1st. Those who park hop TO Disney’s Hollywood Studios will be unable to join a Boarding Group during the first or second windows. In other words, once Park Hopping begins, if you want to get a Boarding Group for Rise of the Resistance (whether at 7AM or 1PM), Disney’s Hollywood Studios MUST be the first park you visit on that day and you must get a valid Park Pass Reservation for it.
Disney has specified this in its Park Hopping announcements, and because Park Hopping hours don’t currently begin until 2PM, guests would not even get the chance to be in Disney’s Hollywood Studios when the new 1PM Boarding Group distribution time begins.
We’ve seen other changes recently make their way over to Rise of the Resistance including the installation of Plexiglass barriers on ride vehicles.
Despite the plexiglass barriers and the ability to potentially seat more guests per vehicle, technical difficulties with the attraction can still cause it to sometimes have a long line, so that’s something you’ll want to keep in mind and potentially build in time for when planning future trips.
We’ll be checking in to see how this afternoon Boarding Group time affects the process so stay tuned for all the updates!
