PHOTOS: New Paint Gives Animal Kingdom's Pandora a Glow Up…LITERALLY!

Pandora — The World of AVATAR in Disney’s Animal Kingdom is a unique place of beauty any time of day.

If you’ve ever had the chance to experience the land after the sun sets, it’s especially stunning. But no matter when you visit, you’ll notice a certain glow all around you stemming (umm… no pun intended) from the bioluminescent flora of Pandora and reflected on the ground you’re walking on in the Valley of Mo’ara.

During our own stroll through Pandora today, we noticed indications of some of the behind-the-scenes work that goes into making that magic.

Areas of the pathways were sectioned off to protect recent powdered “paint” work on some of the grounds. After all, as home to the the park’s most popular attraction with Avatar Flight of Passage, you can imagine that it does take some effort — as well as creativity — to keep these grounds glowing with all the foot traffic!

The intense colors of the powdery substance are striking, even in the bright daylight, so you can enjoy the effects even during a day trip, as you can tell.

Our on-the-ground reporter could even smell the strong scent of the bioluminescent paint particles!

You can notice the difference of color intensity as you look at the ground behind one of the barriers.

The work areas included one of the bridges, as well as the location where the large drums are located (and where we look forward to seeing Swotu Wayä — the Pandoran Drummers — perform again in the future).

Disney fans know to look all around for those famous Disney details, and our trip today serves as a little reminder to take it all in, no matter where you are in Disney World, from way up high…
