EPCOT’s newest exhibit is officially open today!
Last month, it was announced that an exhibit inspired by Disney and Pixar’s latest film, Soul, would be moving into The American Adventure in EPCOT’s World Showcase. This exhibit, The Soul of Jazz: An American Adventure, features the history of jazz and incorporates aspects from the film!
Beginning today, this new exhibit has officially started welcoming guests!
Guests go on a musical tour across America led by Joe Gardner, the main character from Soul. You’ll make stops in cities well-known for their jazz roots, including New York City, Chicago, New Orleans, San Juan, and Los Angeles.
Each of the five jazz hubs has its own board on the wall that speaks to their respective places in jazz history, plus some of the famous musicians that made their names bringing jazz to these cities!
We especially like the inclusion of the Soul characters throughout the exhibit as we learn about some of the Jazz greats!
We could definitely imagine spending a while moseying around this exhibit, immersing ourselves in the journey of jazz music.
Of course, the boards take you all the way from the birth of jazz in New Orleans to modern jazz in Los Angeles. The L.A. board was especially cool since we got to learn about how jazz feeds into the music of famous musicians like Beyonce and Lady Gaga.
Would you believe us if we told you the informational boards on the wall aren’t even the coolest part of this new exhibit? The room also has several cases with tangible pieces of jazz history.
This case definitely caught our eye. Yes, that is an ACTUAL trumpet played by THE Louis Armstrong. Holy moly.
Other featured instruments include Gene Krupa’s drumsticks…
…and Bix Beiderbecke’s cornet.
Plus, the cases include original copies of sheet music from famous composers of history. There are written tunes by Louis Bellson…
…Jelly Roll Morton…
…and Maxwell Davis!
Finally, there’s even companion trivia available on the Play Disney Parks app!
This is an exciting new addition to World Showcase, and one of many new attractions coming to EPCOT. We’ll be sure to provide more updates about them all as they become available, so be sure to check back with us!

How long is the Soul of Jazz display?
We are arriving 3/10 and would love to see it.
Or is it only for the month of February?
Vp, Disney has said this is for Black History Month, but we will update when more info is known. Hopefully it’ll be open for you.
This sounds wonderful! I would love to see this kind of exhibit change out often, showcasing the many different music genres and other history of America.
Amanda, that would be wonderful!
