Every day, we see a TON of new Disney merchandise!
And we’ve seen a lot of very cool Disney kitchenware recently, including towels, wine glasses, aprons, and more! But now we’ve found a piece of kitchenware that has us totally perplexed!
We saw this very cool item in the Kitchen Section at the Emporium at Magic Kingdom. It has the old version of Cinderella Castle and Main Street, U.S.A. on it! Cute, right?
We picked it up to see if we could figure out what it’s for. Is it a napkin holder? But we can’t imagine it would be very effective — the sides are too short to hold napkins up.
So…not a napkin holder. We experimented with a few things and discovered it made a great sponge holder. We mean, look at how good the Monorail Sponge fits in there!
But that’s probably not what it’s for either. We also thought maybe it was for butter, but then we read the warning on the side that says “Caution: not for food use. May poison food.” 😲 ☠️
Okay, so it’s DEFINITELY not a butter dish. Maybe it’s some contraption devised by the Evil Queen? Who knows? But when a Cast Member rang it up for us, it came up as a “Trinket Tray.” But that still leaves us confused because it doesn’t look like a trinket tray. And is that really a kitchen item? So we’re sticking with our sponge holder theory, for now.
So this potentially poisonous thing still has us completely confused, but if you have any guesses as to what this thing is for, please let us know! Even though we have no clue what it’s for we still bought it (guilty as charged) because we just love the Main Street and Cinderella Castle artwork. It’s available now for $17.99 at the Emporium.
Do you have any idea of the purpose of this thing? If you know, PLEASE tell us so we can use it properly! 😂 Thanks in advance for the help, friends!

Maybe to put rings etc when washing dishes?
JL says
Maybe it is a trinket tray? Could be a kitchen item if it’s meant to be left beside the sink for your rings and watches, etc. while washing dishes?
Amanda says
Surely it’s for toast?
Rhia says
Is it for holding mail?

It’s for your whosits and whatsit. You can place it next to your dinglehopper or thingamabob. Haha. I feel like sponge holder is the more logical use for it. Maybe??!!
Nicole Blanco says
Looks like a fun deal accessory to hold envelopes or post-it notes. – Nicole
Don Glover says
Trinket trays come in a fairly diverse set of styles and are generally not specific in what you place in/on them. It is just up to your imagination as to how you use them. I could see using it to hold a number of Magic Bands.
Lesley says
Maybe a spoon rest?
Annette Brown says
A “Trinket Tray” when in the Kitchen section is to put by the sink and you put your rings and watch in it while your doing dishes. A little old fashion, now that we have dishwashers and nobody wears watches, but everyone used to have one!
valerie vanderheiden says
envelope holder for incoming or outgoing mail? I would put it on my deck. Because it looks like ceramic, I wouldn’t want it on my sink edge. It would get chipped very easily.

Fiona Procter says
I would have said toast had it not said “not for food”. Is it a spoon rest?
Lois+Pierce says
Maybe for wallets and cellphones and things you keep in your pocket? You could hook your key ring over the top of the castle.
Melissa Wilson says
I think it’s to hold your mail…..maybe 🙂
Ashley says
It costs the same as the other trinket dishes they sell but looks nothing like it! I think it’s a Sponge holder for sure, especially if it’s by kitchenwares!
Renee Smith says
I think it’s a utensil holder. They used to have similar porcelain ones that would hold forks etc.
Christina says
It is a soap dish for bar soaps. 😁. You are welcome.
Tracy says
Is it a business card holder?
Cecelia says
Phone holder??
Ferg says
Well, if it could poison your food then it would contaminate your sponge and it doesn’t hold napkins that well…it rang up as a trinket holder?
So my guess is it’s for your cell phone ,wallet, keys , mail and so on..
I hope you do a follow up on this one…
Patrice says
Looks like a letter/mail holder.
Janet says
It could hold up a cookbook or tablet but does not look to be so good for that . What a funny mystery!
Jen says
I could see using it for my grocery and to do list notebooks maybe? A pen might fit in the little outer groove? I like the sponge theory too!
Pauline Glaser says
Salt & pepper shaker holder? I personally think it makes a. Great sponge holder or in the bathroom to hold clean folded washcloths for guests.

Pam Oldham says
You are hilarious! This was one of the funniest posts yet. Loved it!
LORRAINE POLLACHEK says
A trinket tray. Brilliant! It is designed to hold your bracelets, wristwatch and rings while cooking and cleaning.
Mariel Green says
Hola. We have a similar looking one that we use to hold/organize the toothpicks and stir sticks.
Chrystie says
I agree with the two who suggest it’s for jewelry while cooking and cleaning. Isn’t that what trinket trays are for, holding jewelry? And if this one was in the kitchen ware area it would make sense that it’s for use in the kitchen while cooking/cleaning.
Leah Osborne says
Weirdly obsessed with finding out exactly what this is for. Like someone else mentioned, I hope you do a follow up because it really is cute! And surely there has to be an intentional use for it.
