Ever buy a Disney toy on shopDisney or in a store and DREAD having to open it up because it’s got all kinds of complicated plastic and twist ties? Ever just give up on trying to open these toys in a normal way and just cut the plastic straight down the middle in desperation?! We’ve ALL been there.
But, now things are changing , at least for some Disney toys!! Just in time for Earth Day, Disney has announced how the packaging on some of their toys will be totally changing to be more environmentally friendly, easier to open, and even reusable!
Recently, Disney announced that starting today, their line of classic dolls will come in new plastic-free packaging!
This new packaging will be available online at shopDisney, at Walt Disney World, and in Disney stores in North America. The new packaging will be coming soon to Disneyland Resort, and will become available at global spots later this year.
What’s so special about this new packaging? Well, it’s plastic-free, for starters! It’s also made of sustainably sourced paper that is 100% recyclable. It’s easy to open, and the packaging can be used to provide some backgrounds for playtime, or even reused to store items and more.
Basically, instead of that standard plastic on the front and sometimes the sides of the box that you’d normally find, on the front of the box you’ll now see an image of the doll. Here’s a look at the one for the Ariel Classic Doll ($19.99).
And then you’ll simply open it up and inside will be your doll and more in some easy-to-open packaging.

Just be sure to look at the product before you order it to make sure it is one of the ones with the updated packaging.
This updated packaging is part of “Disney’s broader commitment to environmental stewardship,” and their work to lessen their environmental footprint. So, if you’re looking to snag these dolls and their updated packaging, you can do so right now. We’ll keep an eye out for more updates from Disney and let you know what we find!
