We’ve been keeping a close eye on all the things reopening around Disney World for ya!
So far, we’ve seen Disney reopen many of the hotels, restaurants, and even some entertainment — though, there is still a lot more to go (including some fan-favorite spots). But, things are starting to look a bit more “normal” for all of you brave Disney travelers with kids who have endless amounts of energy!
As of today, the play area located in the queue for Dumbo the Flying Elephant in Magic Kingdom has officially reopened! And, this is the place to be if you want to let your kids run free on all the slides and activities to pass time instead of standing in the actual queue.
We spoke with a Cast Member about whether guests will still be able to pick up a pager that lets you know when it’s your turn to ride and they said that they will only be using the pagers if the wait time for the ride is long.
Otherwise, you can walk up to the entrance of the ride and a Cast Member will ask you whether you want to play with Dumbo or ride with Dumbo. When you say play with Dumbo, you’ll be directed to the indoor play area so long as it has not hit capacity (which is 100 people).
If you want to play AND ride with Dumbo, you still can too! Just let them know that you want to ride when you’re on your way out. Or, if you’re just there to get rid of the endless energy your kids have, then you can choose to exit and not ride as well.
This is the first play area that has reopened in Disney World and comes as Disney continues to reduce physical distancing in the parks (an announcement they made last month). But, do keep in mind that the Dumbo Play Area is located indoors, so kiddos and adults ages 2 and up will still be required to wear face masks while playing according to Disney’s updated mask policy. Plus, they’re asking that kids wear shoes at all times and do not run.
We will continue to keep an eye out for more reopening news from Disney, so stay tuned to DFB for the latest!
