When it comes to COVID-19, things are changing at a rapid pace.
COVID-19 brought quite a few travel restrictions that led to an impact on Florida tourism. Though the Disney park reservation system is still in place to limit capacity, restrictions have been lifting in terms of not only masks but also social distancing and capacity. Now, another country will be lifting travel restrictions that could reflect on the number of park visitors.
According to CTVNews, as of July 5, 2021, travelers who are currently able to enter into Canada under the existing rules “will be able to do so without having to self-isolate for 14 days, taking a test on day eight, or having to stay in a quarantine hotel upon arrival, if they are fully immunized against COVID-19.”
Specifically, a press release from the Public Health Agency of Canada notes that “fully vaccinated travellers who are permitted to enter Canada will not be subject to the federal requirement to quarantine or take a COVID-19 test on day-8. In addition, fully vaccinated travellers arriving by air will not be required to stay at a government-authorized hotel.”
You can click here to go through a questionnaire that indicates whether you are allowed to enter Canada. According to a press release from Canada, the individuals who are eligible to enter Canada and to whom this change will apply are Canadian citizens, permanent residents, persons registered under the Indian Act, and certain foreign nationals — but they must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
This change does NOT apply however, to fully vaccinated non-citizens who are looking to visit for non-essential reasons. It also won’t apply to Canadian travelers who are not fully vaccinated.
Canada will consider an individual fully vaccinated after they have received the full series of a vaccine at least 14 days before entering Canada. HealthCanada has currently authorized the Moderna, Pfizer, AstraZeneca/COVISHIELD, and Johnson & Johnson vaccines.
Canadian residents will be required to provide proof of vaccination and travelers will need to submit all COVID-19 documentation and information in the Canadian government’s ArriveCAN app prior to returning to Canada. CTV News writes that this is a “first step towards a vaccination passport.”
Fully vaccinated Canadian travelers must also be asymptomatic, and fully vaccinated adults traveling with unvaccinated children will be required to quarantine at home, though the vaccinated adults will be allowed to leave their homes. Additionally, the mandatory pre-departure and on-arrival COVID-19 molecular testing will remain in place.

When will the borders open for more people? CTV News notes that there has yet to be any new information shared on when Canada’s international and U.S. travel restrictions will be eased. The latest extension of travel restrictions with regard to Canada are set to remain in effect until July 21st, but of course that could be extended or further changed.

This is incorrect- we must provide a negative covid test and this is for essential travel only.
We still require a Covid test 72 hrs prior to entering the US and then on return back to Canada you need to do another pre Covid test 72 hrs prior to arrival and then on arrival. So a total of 3 Covid test still for fully vaccinated individuals. If you hav e kids they have to do all of the Covid testing (4-5 tests) + isolation at home still.
