Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is in the middle of a pretty big refurbishment at the moment!
The rooms at the resort are getting a Moana-themed makeover, the front entrance is getting a new look, and the monorail station is also under construction. Previously, we shared that the new Moana-themed rooms were available for booking for dates starting on July 19th. But, now we’ve got more details on exactly when the resort will reopen and what will reopen with it!
Disney’s Polynesian Villas and Bungalows are currently open, but the Poly’s standard rooms have not reopened…yet!
Recently, Disney shared some details with travel agents about the Polynesian’s reopening. Disney has now confirmed that the Polynesian will reopen on July 19th!
As part of the reopening, guests will be able to view the enhanced entrance with the new porte cochere. Disney’s Magical Express and valet parking services will be available under the new porte cochere.
Additionally, when the resort reopens on the 19th, the front desk that was temporarily over at the Pago Pago building will close. The front desk and concierge services will return back to the Great Ceremonial House with the reopening of the hotel on July 19th.
What about the monorail station though? The monorail station at the Polynesian will continue to be under construction and will not reopen with the resort on July 19th.
Additionally, the front entrance to the Great Ceremonial House will not reopen with the resort on July 19th. Instead, that will open at a later date. In the meantime, Cast Members will be helping guests access the side entrance to the Great Ceremonial House.
Disney has noted that guests should also continue to use Online Check-in and Direct-to-Room service to help simplify their check-in process when staying at the resort.
We’ll continue to keep an eye out for more details about this reopening and let you know what we find. Stay tuned for more news!

Does this mean spirit of aloha dinner show will be back? Or is that still a covid thing they haven’t announced yet?
Ken says
I really do not think the re-do of the front entrance and monorail station was warranted. We’ll see if it improved the guest experience.

Does this news potentially bode well for Trader Sam’s to reopen sooner than later as well? (Crossing my fingers and hoping so!!) 😉
DFB Sarah says
Chris, I would expect a separate announcement for the reopening of Spirit of Aloha. We will report as soon as there’s info from Disney.
Mark Warshofsky says
We are planning to be in WDW in October and can’t make Luau reservations, has it reopened or just still N/A?
DFB Sarah says
Mark, no Spirit of Aloha experience yet. Hopefully we’ll hear something about it soon.
